Fan Loyalty

I've been playing for a couple of versions now and am wondering if anyone really understands how Fan Loyalty functions.
1) What are the most important positive contributors?
2) What are the most important negative contributors?
3) Is it tied to roster stability?
4) Is it tied to player ratings?
5) Consecutive playoff appearances?
6) Consecutive .500+ seasons?
7) Player stats?
8) ???
I ask because I have seen examples that to me would rule out each of these. I understand that few rules are static and there is usually an exception.

Next: What does it do?
1) Increase ticket sales?
2) Influence FA signings?
3) Influence extension signing?
4) Effect merchandising revunue?
5) Effect away game attendance?
6) ???

I have had a lot of "Theory" conversations about this, wondering if there is someone who is an expert.

Thanks,
LP

"Um, he's sick. My best friend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious."

In answer to your question, I can't really say for certain what it does or to what it affects. My guess is that it changes pretty randomly loosely tied to winning. My assumption is that it is part of the equation that controls attendance/gate income. Might affect merchandise income as well.

Probably not much help. Sorry.

I figured someone worked on the coding for it and would be able to provide a little insight.

You're basically talking about one guy -- and he likes to maintain a bit of mystery about some things in the game.

Here's my take (i.e., best guess) on it: fan loyalty doesn't directly affect anything. I believe that what is does it moderate the volatility of fan interest (which is represented by the fan interest modifier). IOW, the higher the fan loyalty, the less fan interest will decline due to team success, trades, etc. Fan interest is what drives ticket sales and merchandise revenue.

My sense is that fan loyalty tends to stay pretty constant over long periods of time, with only very small changes if any, probably related to team success.

As little as I want to hear it I think your right. I have seen teams with monster loyalty lose for over a decade and loyalty still remains very strong. Probably true in RL also.

Thanks.
