Coaches/Scouts Help

I need advice on scouts / coaches contracts and what skills I should look for in each of them. Does age / experience count a lot? What skill do you look at the most and which do you not look at at all between them?

Should I just turn it off or is it more realistic with coaches/scouts on? Thanks.

One major negative to coaches (especially if you have a lot of minors) is constantly forgetting that their contracts run out. Not only that, but the sheer number of coaches is a little much for me. While it's realistic, I've never seen positive effects from good coaches in the minor leagues. I might be wrong of course

I've never paid attention to age/experience really. To be honest, I just pick random guys from the coach list that fit my organization and will actually sign with me.

I always play with scouts. I like hidden players, I like the extra "fog of war".

I'm satisfied that coach/scout/trainer ratings do have an impact on the game. Also GMs & managers have a significant impact on team strategies, which is important for AI run teams.

However, whether experience makes a difference is an unknown factor to me, at least so far. All I can say for sure is that coaches with more experience will ask for more money. I just take it on faith that there is probably some justification for this within the game engine, but it's a very nebulous area.

When do you resign coaches, especially in the minor leagues? If you wait until the day between season-end and off-season it seems likely the coach won't sign unless you match his demand exactly.

Let's say you want to keep your pitching coach who's contrat expires this year. He wants $300K for 5 more years. You'd like to pay him $250K for 4 years.

How soon before the season end do you have to start this process before you lose the chance to extend the contract, have him walk on Day 1 of the offseason, and then have to sign a brand new contract?

The AI always extends coaches on the day before the off-season, and not always for the demand price. How does a human do this?

You can offer coaches extensions whenever you feel like it, I usually do it in September.
