Cutting down on the balks?

My pitching staffs had 14 through 25 games. Yikes.

In all my fictional leagues I've always had more balks than you usually see in a MLB season, but now that I'm trying to emulate real life I'd like to get those numbers to be even. Obviously balking a runner over more than once every other game is ridiculously high for any leagues standards so thats more an abberation than anything, but seriously has there even been 14 balks combined in the entire 2009 season? John Maine notwithstanding .

I can't seen to find any little slider options to tone this down, amI missing something?

As an aside, Darren Oliver came in with 2 out and the bases loaded and balked home all three runs. I don't suppose thats ever been done before in the history of baseball

Maine has 1 balk in his entire career. I believe that you're referring to Mike Pelfrey?

On the "strategy" tab, there is a League Total Modifier for Balks on the bottom part of the screen. I'd suggest cutting that down, to maybe 0.500 instead of 1.000.

Before you do that look at team statistics at the end of a season and then compare total balks to the balks for the era your league is set up for.

Yeah, but it always appeared to me that balks were WAY too high with the defaults, through my own seasons of testing.

I would take RchW's advice and at least look though

Right. Living in New York you'd think I'd know that
