Unhappy Valid license will not activate game.

I pre-ordered OOTP10 in the spring and received the game as soon as it was released. Everything was fine. The game worked as expected.

Sadly, I have been unable to play OOTP10 for about 7 weeks. When I received the eMail about the new patch, I was motivated to play again.

Before installing the update, I tried to play a little bit. When I attempted to start the program I got the "Enter License" screen. This was disappointing because I already had a valid license. I entered my valid license and the message, "License incorrect - Game not activated" message. I tried again.. same result. I tried activating the game offline. I followed the procedure and still got the "License incorrect - Game not activated" message.

I attempted repeating the entire process several times... still nothing... "License incorrect - Game not activated."

I have a G4 iMac running System 10.5.8. My computer has 1.25 Gigs of Ram and a 1.25 Ghz processor.

Is there still a bug with the Mac version? What am I doing wrong? Please help.

There are some extra steps that Mac people have to do with this patch:

1. You have to de-license the game as you have it now, so that you are basically back to a demo version of the game. You do this in the Game Preferences window: the unlicense button.

2. The other thing that you may have to do is go to the PISD site and get your license (or both licenses) released. De-licensing should release at least one of them on its own, but it's possible that you could get yourself into a situation where both licenses are considered used, so it's in your interest to be sure they are both released.

3. If you have de-licensed and have at least one released license, you should be able to license OK.

4. Hope, along with the rest of us, that any future patches and the like won't require all of this.

Hope that's clear.

Unhappy De-License Game?

When I go to the Preferences window, I don't see a "de-license" button.

The messages I get say my game has never been "licensed." It's telling me I have a "Demo" version of the game.

This is all happening before I updated.

Why did the license "work" before and now not work?

I "renamed" my computer. It was my wife's... she got a new one... I got her old one and renamed it. Maybe that's it?

I "de-licensed" the computer with the old name. Now once the license is released, I should be able to re-license the same computer, but with a new name.

Thanks for your help!!

I'm having the exact same problem and none of these solutions work.
Like this other person, the game reverted back to demo mode. I tried setting an account up on the OOTP ecommerce site, but it did not have my licences listed to release. This is an enourmous inconvenience for a paying customer - I thought this latest patch would correct this licensing problem. I had to reenter the license so many times since I've had this game I've actually memorized the serial number.

Focus in on what I said about getting licenses released by PISD. You have to go to their web site to do that. If you don't have released licenses, you can't license the game. It's very easy to get both your licenses locked up (shouldn't be that way, but it is).

If you know that you have released licenses, and you are still having problems, post about that. There are a couple of other steps you can take.

Unhappy Still Doesn't Work

I still get "Could not activate license" when I try to use the released license.

Who on the OOTP team handles this issue? This issue needs to be addressed. It's not fair to take $$$ from folks and not give them a working product.

This online arrangement "sucks." As a Mac user. why do I have to have an internet connection to play the game I purchased? Why does "PSID" compromise my gaming "experience?" I think the issue has to caused by this "PSID" company.

It is very disappointing to pay for a game, and then out of the blue, have the functionality of the game ruined because of issues like this.

I guess I will have to get my old APBA cards and boards out of the closet. When you bought a game in the old days, the game was "yours."

Are you off-line when you are trying to license the game? And if so, why? There is a procedure for dealing for doing that, I believe (you have to check the box that says "manual" where you are supposed to enter your license IIRC).

In any event, if you need specific technical help, you can locate PISDPaul by searching for one of his posts on these boards, and send him a PM asking for help.

FWIW, I did one other step when I ran into these issues while testing the previous patch: trashing the hidden license.txt files (there were two because both my licenses had been used) that are installed in the OOTP Baseball 10 Folder in Documents. If you know how to find hidden files, you can try that. I have absolutely no clue what these files do, or if they are relevant to this problem. It's just something I did at the time.

Other than that, I don't have any advice to offer. Unlike what happened when OOTP10 was first released, there seem to be very few Mac users having a problem with licensing at this point. But obviously it can still happen.

Good luck!

Angry Disappointed with OOTP Mac

Thanks Steve for your help. I will attempt contact PSID Paul to resolve my issue. I just hope I don't need to "activate my license" to communicate with him.

I will also try to fix you suggest and post the results.

Just so you know... I was playing OOTP10 without any issues until this week. I ordered the game, paid for it, received it, and it worked.

Now on Tuesday... out of the blue... I was asked to re-enter my license key... and when I entered the correct license key, I get "Unable to activate license"

I've been online when I played the game... and when I've tried to "re-license" the game. I've tried registering "offline" with out success... it just keeps saying, "Unable to activate license."

Before this happened, when I would attempt to play OOTP10 at work, where there is a firewall for "security," the game will not play. I don't understand WHY, as a Mac user, I need to be "connected" to the internet when I play a game that I have legitimately licensed and paid for.

I believe that this PSID company needs to re-evaluate the licensing process for Mac users... or else don't market the game as playable on a Mac.

Just a little "heads up" because I know from the past that this is a subject of some sensitivity. PISD provides the licensing technology, but doesn't decide how it will be used. As a long time (very long, long, long, long time) Mac user , I was surprised by some of the security arrangements. But it would be mistake to assume the PISD is the source the problem. I only mention this because your situation would not be helped by messages which made a different assumption.
