College and High School Development

I have been fooling around a little with a solo league and am curious, do players develop at all in the High School and College leagues? They don't appear to be doing so. It could just be that I am impatient and I have never paid that much attention before. Does anyone know?

Yes Stunt, they do.

The solo league I'm currently playing with has both HS and College feeders (and scouts on), and looking at past scouting reports, every single one of them on my team had at least some ratings/potential development over their four years. Most of them don't have significant changes mind you (i.e. a 1/1/1 pitcher goes to 3/2/1 or something like that), but changes are there.

They develop. But don't expect to see development on the pace of minor leagues. In addition, since in real life few high school and college players ever get drafted, in OOTP you will see most players develop at a snail's pace, indicating they are not draft worthy.

Next question: there was always the assumption that you had to "dial down" the aging/dev modifiers with feeder leagues because otherwise the career curves would be unrealistic. Is that still true?

Biggest reason I meander around these boards: I always learn something new.

I'm not quite sure why I had yet to realize it, but in the 2 or 3 weeks I've been playing X (From 6.5) I never even thought to scout the feeder leagues. I have both a HS and College one, and I would assume scouting the feeder leagues would, if nothing else, give me more information on draft eligible players. I'm kind of embarrassed I didn't realize it on my own, but thanks for posting this thread!

You're kidding me right? The majority of guys that get drafted in MLB are straight from high school, community colleges and colleges/universities. 2009 MLB Draft Results | MLB Draft Selecions | 2009 MLB Amateur Draft Choices. Have a look for yourself if you're interested.
