Log-In "warning" error!
I am trying to log into a OOTP league page but when I click log in, this is all that shows on the page:
Warning: your browser doesn't send the HTTP_REFERER header to the website. This can be caused due to your browser, using a proxy server or your firewall. Please change browser or turn off the use of a proxy or turn off the 'Deny servers to trace web browsing' in your firewall and you shouldn't have problems when sending a POST on this website. I brought up the firewall, but I didn't notice any proxy options. Any ideas? |

Will you provide the link to the league page? Maybe we can sort it out with different systems and browsers.

Great American Baseball Association my team ID was AstrosGM and password is Astros1 ( I will just change the p/w once I get it working)
The commissioner said he logged in fine with it, so it's on my end. But i have no idea how to fix it. |

Okay. I don't know if you want that info public or not. I thought we were just talking about the league page itself. But FWIW, I just went to the page, logged on, and no problems using IE6. What browser are you using, Firefox?

Okay, well as I'm using IE, too, I assume it's a setting issue. Let me look around the firewall area and the proxy settings on this PC and see if there's anything you may want to take a look at. It'll probably take me a while between tasks here.

Are you using the Windows firewall?

Well, in doing a little research it looks a lot more complicated (at least for me) than I'd imagined. It has to do with sending your location to the site. So, is this the same site you usually use to access the league page? And what version of IE are you using? I've run across a ton of articles, but those 'in the know' will probably jump in when they can. I was just hoping I could stumble onto something for you.

It may be your "Cookies" blocking the site. I logged in OK this morning.
Since it is a new computer, I figure you have IE8. Go to Tools -> Internet options -> Privacy -> Advance and look at your set up (mine is: (checked) Override Auto Cookies, 1st Parties - Accept, 3rd Parties - Block. If all of that fails, you may want to "Restore" your internet config. Also if you have any third party program(s) running (I don't have any running), you may want to turn them off, one by one, to see it they are the problem. Dave |

Okay, I'm no source geek. I only research forums, etc... From what I read, IE8 has had some problems sending the referer info, though the reasons vary. Today, the closest item I found that may be worth a try is to Refresh your page on arrival before clicking the info in your login. Maybe others with IE8 can lend an additional hand. Unfortunately, I use IE8 at home, but IE6 at work, where I've been doing much of my replying.
The problem interests me. Why, I don't know, but it does. I'll try it from my home PC tonight if there aren't any additional hints for you today.
