ALDS: Red Sox VS Angels

Red Sox VS Angels.

Seems like an annual event now...

I think Boston is a better team overall, but the Angels are bound to win one of these series against the Sox. I expect/hope that Boston's pitching edge will make the difference.

It sounds like any other series' goals but I think it will be important for the Red Sox pitchers to keep the leadoff man in each inning off the base paths and utilize their ability to strike the batter out often. If a leadoff man gets on and steals second, he can score without another batter even getting on-base. This, I'm sure, is what the Angels will attempt to create every time a runner gets on base, never mind if the leadoff hitter does. If a guy with speed, which is most of the team, gets on with no outs, he will definitely attempt second. If he gets on with one out, chances are he will definitely be trying to get second and third. With two outs, all bets are off depending on the situation. If the Red Sox can keep the leadoff man on and utilize the strikeout when men do get on, they should be able to neutralize the running game without their catchers having the ability to throw out baserunners.

Now that Santana pithing out of pen could be a huge X-factor for this series.
Even though I agree with you that the Red Sox have the better over all pithing, the difference is not as big as I want to believe it is...

No wonder why Tito picked Buchholz over Matsuzaka for #3 SP for this series, isn't it!

Well Boston's relief pitching is superior. But, their rotation at times this year seems to have been extremely inconsistent. (Especially Beckett, all you Boston fans be glad I work nights because every game I saw him pitch this year he gave up at least 5 runs. just dont start him during the weekend because I will see that game.)

I am not really sold on Boston's defense to be honest. Though Gonzalez seems to have solidified that part of the team some.

Beckett has never really been a consistent pitcher in his career, maybe except for 2007.
Specially, he has never been consistent year by year, if you look at his career record. (great year, bad year, good year, not so good year, great year....) He had been incredibly consistent in PS games until last year, when he had 8.79ERA in 2 starts.

I personally like our chance in this PS going with Lester as our #1 SP.

If Angels get baserunners I think they are going to run all day. They'll just take the Girardi model of taking 7 bases against Varitek last week.

CB Bucknor did a lot of O's games this year and I was convinced he was the
worst ump in baseball. Tonight, he proved me right.

Hunter homered in 5th and Angels are leading the game 3-0.
I think Abreu has been the biggest difference in the Angels lineup this year.

I am wondering what is happening to the Red Sox offense.
They are not only harmless, but looking very unenthusiastic.

Seeing some terrible calls from the umpires in this game...

2 more runs for the Angels at the bottom of 7th.
5-0, Angels.

Well, now I guess I will have to expect Beckett to come out big tomorrow.
Going back to Boston with 1-1 record won't be bad.

Well, Beckett was consistent in the 5-6 games I watched him pitch this year.

Even Matsuzaka can be consistent in 5-6 games!
Maybe not...

Well played to the Angels last night. I don't mind them winning the first game of the series - if they win the last game played in the Series then I'll be mega-pished

Having just watched the videos I'm of the mind that Helen Keller would have done a better job than Bucknor

It is funny, because "Bucknor" sounds very similar to the Japanese word that stands for "rediculous", or "out of question".

馬鹿な!
