Lowering contract offer ???

I offered a player a contract. He favors the offer now. After reviewing the deal, I think I offered to much. It still gives me the option to set up a deal. If I re-nogotiate it at a lower rate, will it void the higher one I offered him? Or do I have to withdraw the offer on the pending offers screen? I'm curious if you can lower it. I can't test it, cause it's an online league. Have tried to do it in solo game, but can't re-create the scenario. Anybody know the answer?

From my experience when you submit an offer you have to wait until they accept or reject it. If you withdraw the offer they will get mad and most likely not negotiate with you.
