Clicking on player name results in crash.

Version: OOTP 8.0.0.15 running on WinXP Pro.

I've ran into a very annoying and persistent error that results in a crash whenever I click on a link in an HTML formatted document within the game (such as the trade board, or within the minor league system report).

Is there any solution other than not clicking on the name? I had downloaded 8.0.0.15 to see how it would work as a possible precursor to buying version X, and to me, it's not a very good recommendation if it crashes on such a problem.

After some searching on the forums (no thanks to the non-existent tech support here), figured out you have to right-click on the player's name and choose profile. It's a work around, but the lack of tech help is galling.

Is that the only way to relieve this error?

Yeah, you're right. Maybe we should tell the volunteers not to bother any more at all and just get rid of Tech Support altogether. Then there wouldn't be any surprises. They'd just miss all the thanks they get when they do contribute to resolving a problem. They'd get over it.
