Andreas, what if....?
Andreas, what if you took Version 2, added just what the majority of players here asked for, and put in a few things to make it more like a Career Option? I would be willing to pay a reasonable amount, say fifty bucks, to purchase the enhanced game. The core of the game (Version 2) is great. It just needed a few genuine improvements.

![]() I know you don't like the multiple rating records feature. But you could just ignore it then it should be not too different from version 2. Except that it has a lot of other nice features and bug fixes. |

I'm not sure what the confusion over the career stages is. 2.5 does what 2.0 did except that it now creates a viewable, editable rating for that stage rather than a hidden adjustment. That and other things were good steps forward in my opinion but I share your desire to see this continue Cap.

Very cool to have Andreas talking to us, even if we arn't exactly getting the answers we hoped for. I wasn't sure he knew we were still alive. Thanks Anderas.

Thing is, I don't recall anyone in the forum asking for the multiple career stages. Many of the things that people asked for were bypassed and our programmer's precious time was wasted on something that apparently was only asked for by a select few.
I have a wad of cash burning in my pocket and there is no way it's going towards OOTP baseball. I'll put it towards a revamped Title Bout though. For ideas, check out the Suggestions threads.... Cap

I am as frustrated as you are Cap that this title is stalled again. I wish that there were a solution but this statement is woefully off-base and not fair to either Andreas or the people that were on the beta team and helped him. Right around the release date, you made this same argument on a different site claiming to have inside knowledge that a select few were wasting the programmer's time on a matter (roll playing) that wasn't even really discussed in the beta process. That statement was wrong and unfair and so is this slightly altered one. Andreas bought the rights from the Trunzos to move the process forward and very quickly got v 2.5 out after that. From all accounts that I have heard, it sold very poorly. I can't blame Andreas for not updating 2.5 very often or for not coming out with another version. It frustrates the heck out of me but I understand it. Making accusations isn't going to get us anywhere. Spreading the word that a job is open for a novice programmer that wants to make a little name for himself would be a better place to spend our energies. Christopher

I really like the career stages. I think it adds more realism to the game and also enables you to build a fighter's career from his pro debut through retirement. Sometimes that takes a bit of time to research, but I enjoy doing that. I think this game is AWESOME as is!!!!!
There are a few minor things here and there that would add some improvement, but nothing major. For me it would probably be unhealthy for the game to improve any more....I'd spend even less time on the other areas of life than I do now! ![]() Off the top off my head the only suggestions I can think of right now are (and these are only possible ideas, nothing that I'm dying for. The game is fanastic as is.): 1) Fighters skin color in the ring correspond to what it's listed as. 2) Option to create/individualize the trunks being worn by the fighters in the ring. For example, yellow trunks with "KRONK" in red, for Thomas Hearns. Or blue trunks with light blue trim, or maybe go all maroon, for Marvelous Marvin Hagler. Create your own, knee length or short, tassles, etc. 3) Fix the problem that once in a great while pops up when you select "That's me". (Then again, I've kind of built this problem into my universe where the ring announcer gives the wrong decision and controversy rears it's ugly head, as it sometimes does in our beloved sport, and the decision has to be reversed. 4) Have more fighter photos available, same for venues, trainers, referees, judges, round card girls. 5) Share the specific details of how a fighter is affected by condition for the fight. For example, "Inactive Fighter" means CF reduced by....? (Of course, there is a positive to not knowing also. It gives more of an element of surprise and randomness to the game.) 6) Add more fighters, including more of the less known journeyman. If I could choose only 1 of these additions THIS ONE IS IT. To me this is what the game is all about! It is pure joy for me right now when I see another historical fighter posted for download that I don't have. Even when it's an 0-1 guy I'm thrilled to add him. One of my favorite activities with the game is researching background information on newly added fighters. 7) Adjust how strategies are selected in auto-pilot. Maybe something like, "aggressive" = goes all out for KO if fighter appears to be losing, "conservative" = fights on the inside when fighter appears to be losing. Or sometype of variation along those lines. 8) Option to build in mandatory suspensions, with penalties when suspension is not followed. For example, fighter sustains a cut eye (3) and must be out of action 45 days. If he returns earlier his condition is adversely affected, due to lack of sparring, or the likelihood of the cut reopening is increased. Cut rating increased by 1 or 2. 9) Option to have extremely rare happenings like "fan man" from Holyfield-Bowe, ring collapses, tv camera bumps into fighter causing a cut, lights go out causing a delay and fighters endurance regained during 20 minutes timeout, ring card girl goes nuts and molests one of the fighters in the corner and accidentally scratches his eye causing a cut, the mother of a fighter cheering from ringside throws her shoe into the ring at her son's opponent, fighter knocked out of the ring, double knockdowns, judge goes AWOL so only 2 score the fight or a fan is randomnly selected from the audience to judge. There are SO MANY possibilities here! So many that have actually happened!! Maybe I'll think of some more possibilities later. The randomn fighter generator was a HUGE positive addition with the 2.5 version. |

I'd be happy if the commentary distinguished between 4 point punches ("that was powerful right hand") and 5 point punches ("that was a devastating punch. He's staggering backwards.") The commentary at present makes a fight sound like a Rocky movie, with each fighter landing huge roundhouse punches, round after round. Not the way boxing really is, as you all know.

If the Klitschko-Arreola fight this month is a good one, it will be a big boost for boxing, and might help sales to newcomers looking for a boxing game.

If there is another forum somewhere that draws a lot of text-based game players, the community here could invade it and push Title Bout. This would be even more effective if Andreas could commit some of his valuable time to working on Title Bout.

The problem is this
The Title Bout series has got a reputation for promises, promises and more promises of things to come but not delivered with a lot of boxing fans. In fact when we tried to push the game on other forums that was the biggest obstacle to overcome. A lot laughed and pretty much said "A role play game is in the picture yaaa we will see" As it turned out they again were right, for whatever reasons. As i pointed out to Jim Trunzo at the time *mud sticks" If ever any company makes a boxing game they must learn from past mistakes and never say what will be in the game but rather, we hope to put this in the game. That way you have gave potential buyers hope, but left you a way out if you cant deliver the goods, and your reputation is hopefully still intact. If you do decide to come back and program Title Bout Andreas i cant program but i can be your public relations man for the forum, because as a former boss said to me once with a smile on his face "You should have been a salesman Dan you would have made a fortune" ![]() To be serious its a pity that Title Bout Three is not being made because we could all learn from our past mistakes and hopefully the next one would have been a classic never to be forgotten Last edited by wildhawke11; 09-09-2009 at 06:00 PM. |

I wish I knew more about programming. I would make time just to do it for free to get things moving. I am a big fan and don't have enough time in a day for everything I have going on, but I check the forums as much as possible, even though I have not been posting a lot since we did the photo reorganization.
I will do my part to help advertise by adding TBCB links in my emails and forums. ![]() I have an idea, let's make it mandatory for all Out of the Park Baseball owners to purchase TBCB ![]()

I aint even worried about version 3 ever coming out, but I wish a patch would come out to address some of the issues from the current version, espescially the cuts and the scoring issues when using the "that's me" option in judging

I'd like to see some features added to TBCB, but I won't make myself depressed by re-stating what I've stated many times before. I will add, though, that I am willing to pay for any new features. It's unfortunate that other companies are putting out MMA games and wrestling games, while our little boxing game just...

Cheer up, guys! Maybe if we all get a few more people to buy the present version of Title Bout Andreas will break even and risk spending some time coding TBCB. Not that there's anything wrong with spending time on OOTP baseball...Heavens to Murgatroid, No!
