Need: Retroactive DL placement

Now that the game has injury recovery setbacks, we need the ability to place players on the DL retroactively.

If I'm not mistaken, real life teams may place players on the DL up to 10 days retroactively provided that the player hasn't appeared in any games during that time. The retroactive placement period is precisely for situations in which the team thinks they'll be able to get the player back soon enough that DL time isn't warranted and then realizes the recovery period will be longer than expected.

This has been requested many times. My guess is that it presents a significant programming challenge, for two reasons:

1. The need to determine if the retroactive DL was valid (by having to investigate whether the guy played in specific past games -- something the game does not have to do now for any purpose); and

2. Having to program the AI to properly take advantage of this option (which would be particularly difficult).

Why should it be difficult? Just put him on the DL the day after he last played as a rule rather than an option...........

Well ... I guess it's possible that Markus will jump in on this thread at some point with a message along the lines of: of course, why didn't I think of that? I'll make it happen right now!

It would serve me right for engaging in speculation.

Is there any way to switch a player currently on the 15-day DL to the 60-day DL?

No, except to remove the player after 15 days and then re-place him on the 60-day. Obviously this makes it a 75-day DL.
