Missing fictional cities, nations
I know this problem has been covered before, but I haven't found any answers that seem to make a difference: After jumping through some hoops to get the game to understand my cities.text file (apparently you have to have a blank line at the end, among other things, to prevent the cities showing up as "Team 1," "Team 2," etc.), I can't get it to acknowledge all of the nations in my nations.txt file. I've only got seven, plus a dummy nation (numbered zero). When I tried to create a fictional league, the wizard acknowledged two of the nations plus the dummy, but that's it. When I put the dummy at the end and gave it the number 8, the city names were missing again (as in "Team 1," etc.).
Then I turned the dummy nation into the U.S. -- perhaps it's ironic that I can't think of any good "U.S./dummy" comments -- and at step 2 of the league creation screen, the drop-down menu showed the U.S. and one of my nations, but not the rest. (The U.S. here has a baseball level of 0.) I don't know if it's relevant, but my name files have one name set apiece for my made-up nations, and no sets for U.S. names.
I've looked at the nation entries closely and I'm just not seeing any structural difference between mine and the built-in U.S. one. Since I guess you have to put them somewhere, I put all my nations into region 4, North America.
This is with OOTPX 10.2.18 on a old Power Mac (933 MHz) running OS 10.4.11.
Can anybody think of a solution?
Thanks.
