Can't get day to day injured pitcher to start
My #1 pitcher has a day to day injury for 2 weeks, losing 25% effectiveness. The rest of my staff kind of sucks, and I don't have a spot-starter, so I want the injured starter to pitch in his regular spot in the rotation despite the nagging injury.
I wanted to auto-play the game, but even with strict order selected, when I checked the boxscore, the computer had selected a middle reliever to start instead, someone who was not in the rotation.
Seeing that the computer simply would not start him, I decided to play out the game to force him to start. I changed the "next starter" to his spot again (and his name clearly appeared in the selection list), made sure it was on "strict order", and went to "play game".
The overview page showed no pitcher for my team. I went to the substitutions tab, and tried to select my desired starter as the pitcher, but when I dropped his name in the appropriate place, it ignored me and no pitcher would appear. I also tried dropping him directly into the lineup, but the 9 spot was blank and nothing happened there, either.
I then selected another pitcher that was healthy, and dropped him in the appropriate place, and that worked. I was then, strangely, able to drop the injured pitcher in his place. Since this workaround only works playing out the game, this inhibits my ability to auto-play long stretches at a time.
FYI: I checked and 7-day lineups were not active, so there was nothing there overriding my selections on the pitching staff page.
