Original Card Ratings
One of the things I enjoy doing with TB is adjusting fighter ratings. I try to make things as real as possible and to my liking[nothing against how the fighters come rated]. In my world 12 is the highest cf rating ex:Ali 12/12,Jack Jonson 12/12. Marciano and Joe Louis are cf 10/12 just like the original card ratings. I was wondering if anyone could give me the original cf ratings for a few fighters as I no longer have the card set? Sam Langford,Joe Jeanette,Peter Jackson,Harry Willis, and Sam McVey? I would like to use these ratings as a reference. Thanks

Sam Langford 11 B/S CF 11/11 HP/KI 10/7 KDR1 / 2 KDR2/ 1 KOR 1 CO/CH 6/3 TKO 3 AGG 8 END 95 DEF -5 PL 45 PM 46-60 Joe Jeanette 11 B/S CF 11/10 HP/KI 9/6 KDR1/ 3 KDR2/ 0 KOR 2 CO/CH 5/2 TKO 1 AGG 9 END 110 DEF -4 PL 43 PM 44-60 Peter Jackson 11B CF 10/11 HP/KI 8/7 KDR1 /1 KDR2/ 1 KOR 1 CO/CH 5/4 TKO 2 AGG 9 END 110 DEF -5 PL 45 PM 46-60 Harry Wills 10 B CF 10/10 HP/KI 8/8 KDR1/ 2 KDR2/ 1 KOR 2 CO/CH 6/3 TKO 2 AGG 9 END 95 DEF -2 PL 43 PM 44-59 Sam McVey 9 B/S CF 10/10 HP/KI 8/6 KDR1/ 4 KDR2/ 1 KOR 2 CO/CH 5/4 TKO 2 AGG 7 END 90 DEF -4 PL 45 PM 46-60 In regard to 3pt punches, as a starting guide i give a 4 for a 1 hitting power. Meaning a fighter with a 9 HP would have 36 three point punches I also when i rated fine tuned my fighters many moons ago never went higher then a 12 for CF. I also reduced the CF of a lot of the old time fighters more so in the HW division to allow for the weight difference in say a meeting between Dempsey and Liston or Marciano and Foreman. In the computer game often the best fighters will make short work of the lesser fighters they meet. Take Rocky we both love him but in all honesty Ezzard Charles who i consider the best LHW ever would at prime have i think could maybe have had a chance of taking one win in three against Rocky. Walcott at prime also would again be a tough one for Rocky. Lets face it, Walcott in fact beat Joe Louis for the title but the decision even to Joe Louis surprise was given to Louis. Some of the CF'S in our game i feel are to high that's why i think they have had to make the fighters have better KD ratings. Jim Trunzo gave a 2 as the average fighter to take a punch. Often now this has been reduced to a 1 to keep the guy from keep going down. My own opinion is, well in my game i did reduce the Hitting Power of a lot of the fighters. In fact at one time i spent a whole year rating the fighters as i saw them. But was a few years ago now. What i personally feel is wrong is using the strategy Go all out for KO the fighters hitting power rockets far to high. I wish Andreas would give us the option to alter it. Thanks for getting back to me guys. Danny I agree, a prime Charles,I think could have grabbed a win versus Rocky. One thing that complicates rating fighters is boxer/slugger. I like to use one or the other. Example I have Ali 12/12 boxer and Ken Norton I rate as a 12/8 slugger. This way Norton can give Ali or Larry Holmes fits and at the same time he gets schooled by George
Foreman. As far as the questioned fighters in this thread. I'm starting to think Langford is over-rated. Harry Willis won a majority of their head to head meetings. Langford fought Jack Johnson once and from my reading--the fight was totally one sided in favor of Johnson. |
