Learning new pitches
I have a few questions about developing new pitches:
Is there anything you can do with pitchers that will encourage them to learn a new pitch? Is there a certain age when pitchers stop learning new pitches? Are there any personality ratings (i.e. intelligence, work ethic) that make it more likely for a pitcher to learn a new pitch? Thanks in advance! |

I don't have straight answers to your questions but i'll try to give a bit of input.
I try to keep the player in the minors and have a good pitching coach who handles youngsters well in order to encourage them to learn a new pitch. I would assume that work ethic and intelligence help in teaching a pitcher a new pitch just as they help when a position player is being taught a new position. |
