game crash when I click on manager news

The game has started crashing every time I go into manager's news or get a personal message. Has this happeded to anyone else? It even does it when I start a new career.

Inbox causes game crash

So I have posted this problem a couple of separate times now. But after two patches the problem still has not been addressed. Everytime that I attempt to open or use my inbox the game automatically crashes. Because of this I have had to disable message notification. The problem occurs in separate games. Also, I was going to attempt to uninstall and reinstall however, the game will not allow me to unlicense it. I'm sort of at a stand still.

Update: I uninstalled and redownloaded and installed my game and it made no difference the inbox and message function for the game continues to be irrelevant to me while I play the game. This make me feel a little ripped off considering i didnt pay full price to not have certain features. A little help would be appreciated here.

Have you guys tried deleting the files in your messages folder? It could be that a particular message was generated in the past that is causing your problems somehow.

Are your graphics card drivers up to date? Have you tried using a different skin from within the game?

Just to be sure, updated drivers again, copied my game, deleted everything in the messages folder, loaded up the copy, changed skin from OOTP black to OOTP classic, and clicked the manager news icon, and OOTP stopped responding with the option to quit of have windows search for a solution and quit.

No love, and really wanting to play the game!

Have you tried entirely uninstalling OOTP from your computer (except your saved games, of course) and then reinstalling it?

Do any other screens cause crashes? Maybe the league News screen?

No, just the one displaying the news items, accessed by clicking the envelope icon on the bar at the bottom of the screen.

Does it only happen when you using the icon shortcuts? What about if you navigate to the screen using the menus?

Windows Vista 64 bit Home Premium
8GB RAM
Quad Core 8.8mHz

For the record, the game worked for me originally. It's a patch that has screwed thing up, I think the first one, and the second patch also does not work (it was that version I installed after I cleaned the original version off the PC to reinstall).

That .. is a monster computer.

I'm sorry, Dave, but I don't know what else to suggest at this point. We've long past hit the limit of my knowledge. Again, apologies.

Well, it's a monster that's seriously unhappy, but that's a whole other story.

I really appreciate your help, I'm just disappointed as I loved the game. Do you have a link to the original game? I might try installing that clean, unpatched, and see what happens. It would be good to confirm it was a patch that broke it (or not!).

I just hope one of the technical team can pick this up and fix it.

Once more, thanks.
