New OOTPX Historical League
Full League Name: World Wide Baseball Federation (WWBF)
Main URL: WWBF Email Address: huskerdan25@msn.com OOTP Version: 10.4.31 Game Needed: Required Players: Historical 1970 # of Teams: 24 Sim Days And Times: Monday, Wednesday, Saturday The World Wide Baseball Federation is an alternate history simulation baseball league. Here is its story: It's January 1970 and the miracle Mets have stunned the baseball world by defeating the Baltimore Orioles in the 1969 World Series. You would think that Major League Baseball was at its peak with such an historical season but actually, MLB is on the verge of collapse. What was considered America's National Pastime has fallen out of favor with the fans and most all of the current MLB franchises are in financial collapse. So, just 3 short months after this momentous season, the MLB shuts down and leaves hundreds of the world's best baseball players on the unemployment line. Behind the scenes, an effort was in place to make baseball the world's top sport while MLB was struggling to stay afloat. On January 1, 1970, the formation of a new, international league is announced. This new league is called the World Wide Baseball Federation. The WWBF's commissioner, Dan Stamey and it's assistant commission, Chris Robillard, toured the world looking for financiers to bring the great game to their cities and countries. The result is a league containing teams from over 20 countries. The major league players will display their talent across the globe and the game of baseball will never be the same again. WWBF is an Out of the Park, Version X, historical simulation baseball league. The league starts with the 1970 season with real players but fictional cities and team names. Real rookies are imported each season during the annual amateur draft. The league structure consists of two leagues, the Western Hemisphere and Eastern Hemisphere with each consisting of two divisions of 6 teams. The Western Hemisphere league contains the North America and South America divisions while the Eastern Hemisphere leagye contains the Far East and Europe divisions. Division winners proceed to the playoffs where the two league champions play in a true World Series. The league name and logos were created by OOTP board member, justafan and this league wants to display and honor his great work. There are 13 of the 24 teams available. If interested, please contact me at the email above. The available teams are listed in the open teams block on the lower left hand side of the website. We are using the StatsLab utilities and we will be conducting an initial draft of 10 rounds to allow owners to build the base of their teams. The draft will be done using the StatsLab draft tool. Picked a couple of new owners yesterday and the league has 11 open teams. If you like historical baseball using real players and like being able to build the base of your team through an initial draft, this is your league. Check us out!

WWBF has completed its first season with Port-au-Prince Panthers being crowned the true World Series champions. Now on to the new season and as is the case with most leagues, a few owners have had to leave for various reasons. 3 teams are available in this 24 team league:
Havana Cigars - taken Taipei Tigers Moscow Reds This is a great league with outstanding owners. If you would like to join, the first post in this thread gives you information about the league. Just send me an email with the team you would like to manage (please list them in priority order). We are about to start the offseason activities and enter the 1971 season. This is a pretty sweet league and its run by a great Commish. If you like a little different twist to a Historical league then this is one to get in on.

This league has 3 teams open at the moment.
We just finished our Rookie Draft during our 2nd season. So what ever team you get you still have a chance to make some moves before the trading deadline. This is a great league with a Great Commish. Please join us. The teams open are: Madrid (23-37) Good mixture of young players and vets. Need some TLC but that is what is great about getting in now. Berlin (30-28) A very solid team where if you could make a move or two you could easily be contending for the division title THIS YEAR. Rome (35-24) You will have guys under the age of 30, Joe Morgan (27) and Rick Monday (25) to go along with a very solid pitching staff ready to make a run at the playoffs. |
