Game failing to start after creation of league
I skimmed through the posting rules and will try to explain the situation according to those guidelines:
OOTP 10 (version 2.16) Windows 7 open beta (purchased game and started league on this OS) 2GB RAM Running historical league 13 years into game play First time this issue happened I was playing a historical league. I started the league the day after I purchased the game. I followed the rules on how to set up the game (my first venture into the OOTP series). I've been playing the game quite a bit. Today, during the 14th year of my game, the program crashed. I got a blue screen and was forced to restart my computer. I restarted and tried to load my game again. It would allow me to click on the saved game and loaded all components. However, at the last part of the load bar (100%), I get a windows message saying the program quit unexpectedly. i tried to create a new historical game and went through that process fine. But again, it got to the last part of the load and it gave me the same windows message. NOTE: I quick started a career and chose 'unemployed' to start. I was able to load the game without issue. (but, when i apply for a GM job, the program quits) I downloaded the game again and installed. i made sure i unlicensed the game first, then uninstalled the current version on my computer. The results were the same. I've not installed anything else on my computer since I installed this game. Thanks |

I will post my results of my work around/work through of this problem.
I copied my saved game over to another part of the hard drive. I did a fresh install of the game. I unlicensed and uninstalled the game. I re-installed the game and re-licensed it. I pasted the saved game back into the saved games folder. I fired up the game and loaded the saved game. Everything seemed to work. In the OOTP folder in the My Documents, there must have been something missing that wouldn't allow the game to continue past a certain point. With a fresh install, I was able to load the game without problems. I would suggest doing the same. Make a copy of the folder found in My Documents. All of my photos and such were saved because I copied it before i re-installed. Also, make sure to create a backup every so often. I didn't and while my game data wasn't affected, I am now double secure when I create backup twice a year. Since I posted this thread, I can consider the issue closed or 'fixed'. |

Daryll, that's very interesting information, thanks for posting it. I'm glad you managed to get everything working again, and I'll certainly consider trying this out for other problems...
Jester, if this didn't resolve your issue, can you please create your own support thread so we can attack your problem too? Thanks! Steve
