How do you get the AI to control the minors?

I have control of all the roster moves on the MLB level clubs, but I want the minor leagues to be controlled by the AI. I don't want to deal with shuffling players between AA and AAA, etc.

Is there a way to do get the AI to control the minors and promote/demote players?

On the manager options page you can set individual permissions for the AI to handle various aspects of your roster. For minor leagues there are 3 options:
1. Handle minor league line-ups and depth charts,
2. Handle minor league promotions and demotions, and
3. Handle signing and releasing on minor league players.

A lot of people on these boards will disagree with me, but I think the AI does a reasonable job with these functions.

Cool, thank you..now I have it check marked to have the AI prevent any roster changes, is this going to affect anything?

Sorry, I have no idea how those options interact.

That option will prevent the AI from making any roster changes at your major league level and active roster. It should not prohibit the minor league managers from demoting or promoting as they see fit within the minor leagues. It will still be up to you, however, to decide when one of those players is a candidate for your 40-man or your active roster.

Warfisch, thanks for steering me in the right direction.

Endgame, right now I have my settings fixed so the minor league manager will set lineups and promote/demote players. The problem is, it hasn't done any of those. I've simmed a whole week and the minor league lineups and pitching staffs are still incomplete. Any idea of what I'm doing wrong?

How far are you into the season? Is it just Spring Training? Have any of those minor leagues begun their seasons?

It's April 18th, so AAA, AA, etc. has started.

Somethings definitely not working because the Richmond Braves only have 7 position players and are fielding an incomplete team.

I have the settings on so the AI controls lineups and transactions in all the minor leagues, so I'm not sure what's wrong.

However..I think I just may have fixed it or am on to something. In the transaction menu of the MLB parent club, I hit the action button and it said ASK AI to set up complete minors and I hit that, and the Minor rosters are now full (25 players on AAA, AA, etc) So that works.

Now lets say I call up a player from AAA because someone on the MLB club goes on the DL. Is there a way that the minors will automatically adjust their roster without me hitting that action button or will they just play short?

Well, as long as you have the AI set to handle promotions/demotions, it should fill the spot. Based on your earlier problem there maybe something else wrong, though.

Everything's working fine now. The minor league teams are full with players and all's well in OOTP Baseball land! Thanks to all who answered.
