Wasn't sure where to post this, since I thought I would get your opinions on this first. I've owned OOTP since v.2, and I love the different types of things you can run with it...my newest idea might be something interesting to take part in, not sure yet. I've been setting up a 'test run' this morning, and hope to run a few season to test how it would run in an online league tonight.
Basically the storyline behind the league, is that MLB is locked out in the 2002 season (I know this is NOT realistic, but for all purposes it works). Baseball is once again dead. However, deciding to make some money, and seeing the gleam of gold, different businessmen decide to create a new league, one based on all minor league teams. Buying out all single A squads, and a few AA squads, the league will run unchallanged in the 2002 season. Teams will be run WITH single-A and some AA players, along with one AAA prospect from each squad who has been payed a handsome salary to "jump sides." I like this type of a league, because it gives you a chance to look at guys like Nick Johnson, Ryan Anderson, Corey Patterson, etc. when most online leagues don't last long enough for you to play with them. I have NO clue how this would play out statisically which is why I'm testing how the low ratings of players would effect each other tonight. Look for another post on that around 10 PM tonight. This might be a league I would be looking at creating if enough interest was generated. Right now, the teams I had slated were the following.(all real Single-A teams) Obviously these could be switched around. Auburn Doubledays (TOR) Augusta Green Jackets (BOS) Batavia Muckdogs (PHI) Beloit Snappers (MIL) Boise Hawks (CHN) Brooklyn Cyclones (NYM) Burlington Bees (KC) Columbus Red Stixx (CLE) Dayton Dragons (CIN) Eugene Emeralds (SD) Fort Wayne Wizards (MIN) Frederick Keys (BAL) Hagerstown Suns (SF) Hudson Valley Renegades (TB) Jamestown Jammers (ATL) Jupiter Hammerheads (MON) Kannapolis Intimidators (CHA) Lynchburg Hillcats (PIT) Michigan Battle Cats (HOU) Midland Rockhounds (OAK) Norwich Navagators (NYA) Peoria Chiefs (STL) Provo Angels (ANA) Salem Avalanche (COL) Tulsa Drillers (TEX) Utica Blue Sox (FLA) West Michigan Whitecaps (DET) Wilmington Waves (LA) Wisconsin Rattlers (SEA) Yakima Bears (ARI) Will probably post this file somewhere even if the league is not run (along with logos) if anyone isn't interested in the league. Cheers. |

Modesto, Visalia, and Vancouver are the three A ball affiliates of the A's. |

Yeah, there was a few that had HORRIBLE logos, so I tried to find ones that looked a bit professional. I think New York (A) was one too.

If you need a good logo for Modesto, I can get you one.
And if you do put Modesto in the league, then I'd be interested. |

Norwich is the AA affiliate of the Yankees. I remember seeing the Trenton Thunder beat them on back when Nomar played for the Thunder in like 20 innings.

Those were a few logos I could find for Oakland and New York A teams. I'm sure you can trim them down, especially the Tampa Yankees or Modesto A's

All right, I can throw Modesto in instead of Midland. Like I said, no problem if you want to interchange these teams.
Also put in Staten Island for the Yankees club now instead. If any of you guys want to give any ideas if you've been to these team's stadiums as to the dimensions, by all means let me know where I could find some. |

Pete,
Thanks, appriciate it, will definatly be putting the Staten Island park into the game. Secondly, any of you have any opinions as to how these rosters should be made up? JUST Single-A...SingleA/AA, or A/AA and like one or two spects from AAA? |

If this league ever gets off the ground I'd like to be Augusta.

I'd be interested in playing as Batavia. Kind of a local team here(live in Rochester - AAA affiliate for Baltimore, and grew up in Buffalo - currently Indians AAA team).

If you put the Lowell Spinners in instead of the Augusta Green Jackets, I'd join as the Spin Crew. They're our local minor league tema.

I dunno about AAA. most of the top ones are on the 40 man rosters (Johnson) and would strike as well as the major leaguers, because their contracts are owned by the owners. Unless it's a strike and not a lockout.
Also, you gotta let guys like Brian Daubach and Rick Reed in the league, because they are not in MLBPA.
