2009 and onward - Toronto Blue Jays
Yet another Blue Jay dynasty!!
The Blue Jays try to bring back the success of the mid 90's with the signing of their new GM B. Cameron! This time, they will try without the aid of the DH! The AL has finally come to their senses and abolished that abomination! |

April 2009 - Toronto Blue Jays
Manager Cito Gaston and GM B. Cameron 6th April 2009 Opening Day against the Tigers, who won 74 games last season. They finished 5th in their division, 15.5 games out. Injury Report: Toronto: SP D. Halladay - 8.0 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 9 K Time: 2:37 Attendance: 49404 Elsewhere: Done deal! The Pittsburgh Pirates have agreed to send 25-year-old third baseman Andy LaRoche and 19-year-old minor league right fielder Wesley Freeman to the Houston Astros for 32-year-old center fielder Jason Michaels and a 5th round draft pick. The trade, rumored for days, was completed in the wee hours this morning. St. Louis and San Diego have agreed to a trade today. 27-year-old left fielder Chris Duncan and 19-year-old minor league starting pitcher Richard Castillo will go to the Padres. In exchange the Cardinals will receive 31-year-old reliever Heath Bell and 22-year-old starting pitcher Will Inman. The New York (A) Yankees will have to make do without Jorge Posada for 2 weeks. He suffered a throwing shoulder subluxation while colliding with a player at a base in the game today against the Baltimore Orioles. His teammates, understandably, were upset about losing the catcher. "That's a tough break for him," one of them said. "But this team is resilient. We will just fill in until he gets back." Washington Nationals star Adam Dunn goes 3 for 5 with 2 HR and 5 RBI's on the way to an 8-7 win over the Florida Marlins. He was named the #1 Performer of the Day. Cook allowed 1 ER on 6 H, while striking out 7 Diamondback batters. Happy times in Los Angeles (N) as their star second baseman Orlando Hudson put the finishing touches on a $17,470,000 contract extension that will keep the 31-year-old in town 4 years longer. The signing is great news for Los Angeles (N) because players of this caliber are hard to come by. Texas Rangers MR J. Benoit is ill. The Diagnosis: surgery to remove colon cancer. He's expected to miss about 4 months. Lets wish him the best of luck. |

Manager Cito Gaston and GM B. Cameron 8th April 2009 Game # 3 Detroit [0-2] (RHP R. Porcello 0-0, 0.00 ERA) at Toronto [2-0] (RHP J. Litsch 0-0, 0.00 ERA) 3B S. Rolen - 2B A. Hill - CF A. Granderson - 4/5, 3 R, HR, RBI Time: 3:09 Attendance: 37591 Elsewhere: Arizona Diamondbacks 2B, Felipe Lopez was named MLB's Performer of the Day. Lopez went 3 for 3, with 2 doubles, a HR and 5 RBI's as Arizona pounded the Rockies 13-3. Chicago (A) White Sox slugging right fielder Jermaine Dye swatted his way to the 300 home run mark today as the White Sox fell to the Kansas City Royals 10-7. For his part, Dye chipped in 3 runs batted in, scored 2 runs and collected 2 hits in 5 at-bats, but it was not enough to turn the tide."It was a special day for Jermaine," the team publicist said afterward, "He was disappointed at the result, but everyone was all smiles as he crossed home plate. We're proud of him."His numbers show Dye is carrying a .276 lifetime batting average with 300 home runs and 994 RBIs. Ouch! J.D. Drew shelved by injury. It took the Boston team doctor a while to realize it, but right fielder J.D. Drew won't simply play through a right intercostal strain after he got hurt running the bases in today's Rays-Red Sox game. At first, it looked like Drew might be back as early as tomorrow, but now the prognosis isn't quite so good; he's expected to miss at least 2-3 weeks. Fans in Tampa Bay woke up this morning to learn that their team had traded 30-year-old second baseman Akinori Iwamura and 22-year-old minor league third baseman Reid Fronk to the San Diego Padres. In return, the Rays will receive 25-year-old closer Cla Meredith and 21-year-old minor league starting pitcher Jeremy McBryde. In his career Iwamura has hit for a .279 average and totaled 312 hits, 13 home runs and 82 RBIs. Lifetime Meredith has appeared in 203 games and saved 2 of them. |

Manager Cito Gaston and GM B. Cameron 9th April 2009 Game # 4 Detroit [1-2] (RHP A. Galarraga 0-0, 0.00 ERA) at Toronto [2-1] (RHP S. Richmond 0-0, 0.00 ERA) 3B S. Rolen - 2B A. Hill - LF A. He went 2 for 5, with HR, 5 RBI's and scored a run. The Dodgers whipped the Padres 13-1. New York (A) fans will be disappointed to learn that Mark Teixeira suffered a fractured right little finger while being hit by a pitch in today's game. After the doctor informed the New York Yankees manager that Teixeira was expected to miss 6 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the first baseman could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper. The Cleveland Indians will have to make do without Scott Lewis for 13-14 months. He suffered a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder while throwing a pitch in the game today against the Texas Rangers. His teammates, understandably, were upset about losing the starting pitcher. "That's a tough break for him," one of them said. "But this team is resilient. We will just fill in until he gets back." Ruckus Reaps 2-Game Suspensions At a recent Indians-Rangers contest at Progressive Field, Grady Sizemore of Cleveland took exception to what C.J. Wilson of Texas said to him and tackled him. This led to an old-fashioned bench-clearing free-for-all between the two clubs. After the umpires restored order, they ejected both players. Today the league commissioner's office took action and suspended each player for 2 games, citing them for "inappropriate and aggressive conduct." |

Manager Cito Gaston and GM B. Cameron 10th April 2009 Even though we were outscored by the Tigers 18-15, we still managed to take the series 3 games to 1. Our only bad game was the 3rd of the series when we were blasted 12 to 3. Detroit scored 8 runs in the last 3 innings, including 7 runs in the 8th and 9th off of our shaky bullpen. Our next series is a 3 game set against the Indians in Cleveland who opened their season in Texas with 3 straight wins, out scoring the Rangers 21 to 6. Cleveland finished last season at 81-81, good for 3rd in their division. Injury Report: Toronto: SP D. McGowan (5 months) MR C. Janssen (4 days) SP S. Marcum (5 months) Cleveland: LF D. The Orioles star goes 3 for 4, 2B, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 4 R, BB. Baltimore crushes Tampa Bay, 13-3. Braves, Twins Close Deal Both sides appear content with the trade finalized today that will send 27-year-old shortstop Omar Infante and 21-year-old minor league starting pitcher Jeff Locke to the Minnesota Twins, while the Atlanta Braves will receive 27-year-old reliever Jesse Crain and 21-year-old minor league starting pitcher Bradley Tippett. "We feel this is a move that filled a few gaps in our roster," said the Braves general manager. For his part, the Twins GM said the trade was made "in the best interest of our organization's future." BNN analysts reported that on paper the trade seemed to be a plus for both ball clubs. The players involved are expected to join their new teams for the next scheduled game. In his career Infante is hitting .260 with a total of 35 home runs. In his career Crain has collected 25 victories and 16 defeats along with 2 saves. He has a lifetime 3.21 ERA and has struck out 161 in 266.1 innings. Detroit, New York (N) Trade Players The Tigers and Mets confirmed this afternoon that a trade had been agreed upon. In the deal, Detroit will get 32-year-old reliever Pedro Feliciano and 22-year-old minor league starting pitcher Dylan Owen, while New York (N) will receive 27-year-old second baseman Ryan Raburn and 23-year-old minor league left fielder Kyle Peter. Raburn is currently hitting at a .357 pace with no home runs and 3 RBIs. The 32-year-old Feliciano has made 281 appearances, crafted a 13-9 record, pitched 250.2 innings and fanned 226. He has 4 saves and a lifetime 3.45 ERA. Davis Gets 5 Hits All game long Texas's Chris Davis was rattling the walls at Comerica Park and banging out base hits against the Detroit Tigers. When the dust finally settled on the diamond, he had a 5-hit day and the Rangers had a 7-0 victory. Speaking with reporters after his standout performance, the 23-year-old first baseman said, "Get 5 hits, win a ballgame, it's nice. I could get used to this." C. Davis doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. |

Transactions: Milwaukee Brewers: Signed free agent MR Roger Deago to a 1-year contract worth a total of $400,000. Their scouts discovered this 31 year old pitcher in Panama. Scouts say he has a nice drop to his breaking stuff, and very good movement on his fastball. He doesn't give up very many home runs. Philadelphia Phillies placed 3B Andy Tracy on the 60-day disabled list. Other News: Giambi Wallops #400 Oakland's 3-1 victory over New York (A) was highlighted by Jason Giambi's 400th career home run. His teammates congratulated him at home plate after he circled the bases. "I didn't see all of them out there," Giambi said with a chuckle, "until I rounded third base." He added sheepishly: "It was only a home run. It's not like I won us a World Series!" In 2 at-bats the Athletics first baseman collected 1 hit in his historic game, scored 1 run, and had 1 run batted in. His career numbers show Giambi is hitting .286 with a total of 400 home runs.
