So, I am rethinking the star ratings and what seems to be a change in how my players are evaluated. I'm interested if my new thinking is along the same lines of what other people are doing.
I think in previous versions, I used the stars as my primary, GM-level evaluation of a player. In fact, to clean out my minor league systems, I would look at players who were old and had 1-star overal and potential and release them.
A player with 2+ star potential stayed in my organization. 3+ star potential guys were my up-and-coming sensations.
I guess I have decided I need to be more 'considered' than that with OOTP X. Maybe the guy rated 3-star potential is just on a hot streak. He might have crappy ratings, but my scout is calling him out as having a good year, etc. Maybe the 1-star guys will turn it around and start to perform (which sounds like will result in a better rating). The scout ratings are becoming more of a quick, current evaluation for merather than long-term indicator...
So, now, I actually have to spend time LOOKING at these players I want to release.

Who knows, maybe some of those guys I dumped in my inaugural have gone on to do great things.
Any other philosophical viewpoints on Scouting?
