Post-Trade Deadline Issue

Has anyone else had problems with the AI doing trades after the deadline that should never clear waivers? For example, I just saw a 25-year 2B at the end of an MVP year get traded for a 28-year-old, 2-time All-Star SP and a solid MLB-level MR. This happened on October 11th, and the regular season ended October 16th (from a generated schedule). The trade deadline was set for July 31st. I was just simming as an impartial observer when I noticed the trade, so I can't verify the players were actually on waivers, but all further testing I did indicated that the waiver rule is working correctly. So, I guess the problem is the AI not claiming players that should very obviously be claimed. The guy having the MVP year was making the league minimum and had another year or two of auto-resign, so there was absolutely no reason the AI should have let that guy clear waivers. Also, my understanding is that there's a rule preventing players acquired at the end of the season from being on the postseason roster, but all 3 players played for their new team in the playoffs. Is this by design in OOTP? Thanks for taking a look at this issue.

There were some issues with the AI not claiming players from waivers, but I thought those were fixed. Should be relatively easy to reproduce, though, if we just take over one team and try to force through a wavier trade using a superstar just to see if one of the AI teams bites on it.

As for the playoff rosters, those have never had any of the real restrictions. You can put anyone you want to on the playoff rosters, no matter when you've acquired them. There's probably a bunch of enhancement requests to fix that. I'll see if I can find one and add this to it.

Both BZ#56 and BZ#2221 deal with this. They were both marked as "LATER"...I've reopened them.

Frankly, I'm not too concerned about the postseason roster rules being that accurate. I just brought it up in case it was a bug and not intended to be that way. I'm much more concerned about the waiver issue. I'll try to test it some more tonight to see if I can come up with some more examples.

I'm not having much luck reproducing this in patch 1, which is good because one of the bugs fixed involved the AI not claiming players. So, your problem might be resolved once the patch gets released.

I'm not sure I understand this bug/issue. In the manual it states, "In the real world, trades can be made after the deadline, as long as all players in the transaction first successfully pass through waivers. However, this rule does not currently exist in OOTP. Trading is forbidden between the deadline and the ends of the regular season."

Is that incorrect? I was under the impression that no trades could be made after the deadline (until after the postseason). However, I am seeing deals being made after the deadline. I believe this should be a bug.

If that's what the manual says, then it is wrong. OOTP has the waiver trade rule and has for a long time. The bug would be that the AI is letting good players pass through waivers without challenging the trade (which I have not been able to reproduce).

Yep. Just checked. The manual is wrong. BZ#3298 for a correction.
