Any Way to Save A Game?

Is there any way to save a game in progress?

Wow, really? That's extremely odd. So I'm in pitch-by-pitch mode and i want to exit the game to go back to the main screen and finish it later, or I need to re-boot the PC for some reason, or whatever. I can't save the game? What happens if I just close down OOTP?

It reverts to the last saved state.

The game needs to have a save function. Interruptions happen.

No doubt. It also should do real-time saving as you are changing the league structure/options. I just had it freeze up and lost everything I did the last 2 hours.

I have lost years of my life these past two days dealing with OOTP's flaws.

I have to agree. OOTP should have added a save game function several versions ago.

I would love to see an in-game save feature implemented! It would make me buy this version for sure!

I surely wouldn't pass on it because it doesn't have it

Markus has said that this is not likely anytime soon because there are games running in the background, making it too difficult to implement.

I don't like to say things like this... but that's an excuse, not a reason.
It's possible to quick sim 5 games when 10 are scheduled, and then go manage one. It's possible to manage a game and not have any simming in the background.
There's no reason you couldn't have a save function for the game you're managing, but lose the functionality of having the other games simming in relative 'real time' (so you have an out of time scoreboard) since it would quickly complete the simming of those games going on in the background before completing the save.

I guess I'm not understanding, but there is a "Save Game" option, just not in PbP. But when you think about it, in a game whos scope is zoomed out to the season/decade/era, is it such a big deal to start a single day over if you have to leave, or shut down?

As for auto saving, that'd be sweet. If i can manually click save game, there is no real reason why the game can't have an auto-save option that fires in the same window of opportunity

The game has auto-save, and you can set it for daily, once a week, once a month, or yearly. It's in Game Setup.

They are talking about saving when playing out a game, say, in the fifth inning.

Markus said years ago he'd never impliment that option because it would encourage people to cheat. Same with disabling the auto-save-on-quit. Whether his thoughts on this have ever changed, I have no idea...

If it is difficult to program with games running in the background, couldn't the game complete all simmed games and stop the 1 game that is being played to be saved for a later time?

In the second para, he makes reference to the save feature already in the game. So I interepeted it to mean he was talking about that save feature.

Maybe that is part of the problem. If there are a bunch of settings that may or may not be active during in-game, I would think that would make it extremely difficult/time consuming to create the ability to save because you have to address all of the possibilities. It isn't like Markus isn't receptive to suggestions, if he says that it would be difficult to implement, I'm going to believe that is probably the case.

I referenced both the non-implimented mid-game save and the rolling auto-save in the second paragraph.
