Basic defense strategy questions...
I'm coming over from OOTP5 to the new game after a few year hiatus. I would like to join a couple leagues and be competitive.
What's the minimum defensive and arm ratings you want at any given position? I miss the easy A-E ratings. Also, can you use a poor fielding/good hitting catcher or is it the kiss of death? Is it an automatic shift to 1B (and what if 1B is already filled by a stud)? What are the best stats/ways/screens to evaluate the player you currently have in all facets? Thanks for any light you can shed. |

I took these notes about a year ago; I think they are still applicable:

Judging a player in all facets - see my answer to the guy in the "How do you figure out where your team's weaknesses are" thread. To me, other than the player's ratings, that is the quickest way to get an idea of how good a player you have at any particular position.

Thanks.
Do you have advice on evaluating pitchers? Which is most important - stuff, control, movement? I'm sure it's different for pitchers and relievers. Thanks agan! |
