Injury Settings

Has anyone come up with what injury setting should be by what decade you are playing in. I start my league in 1955 and should the injury setting be OOTP classic as I have it now or should each decade be different.

I have heard 2 different ideas.

The first one is to actually disable injuries and set the player fatigue level to the highest possible settings. This method seems to result in some pretty realistic stat reproduction from what I have heard.

Another idea is to set the injury setting to med or high with normal fatigue. You will obviously get some Career Ending injuries and some longer term DL stays but you will get more games played by those who are uninjured.

I guess it just depends on what you are looking for. I personally use method 2.

I use OOTP classic for a league starting in 1958. I probably wouldn't switch to high for any league earlier than about 1990.

In a 1955 league, injuries can be a problem for game integrity if you only have the players that the Lahman database creates. You may need to add fictional players and/or allow ghost players, especially if you have any minor leagues, but even if you are just using the reserve roster approach. It's because of this potential problem that people playing early era leagues tend to turn injuries off or set them to Low/Very low.
