I don't need everything to be perfectly accurate, so I chose to let him have the opportunity that was taken from him.

That's the way I'll likely do it when I start my MLB sim.

It should be no surprise considering that I've had this memorial signature for way longer than I should, but I prefer to remember those who are tragically taken from us rather than purge my memory (or my video games) of them.

Well signed him as a Free Agent in OOTP 8 for way too much money. My Mariners might have to sign him.

Yup, let him play.

I'm giving him a CEI (deceased). Unfortunately, I want my sims to be as realistic as possible and he died after only one start this season. He will be listed as a CEI in my roster pack.

It's both sad and a tribute to see how he days in the sims. He won the Cy Young Award in my first try at simming the entire season during beta testing.

I might get rid of him off the roster only because I don't want to be reminded of the tragedy. I had followed Adenhart for a while and he'd been on my teams in a number of different baseball games before.

considering he actually started the season for the angels, he should be kept on IMO. I mean, its no different than someone suffering a season ending injury in real life and keeping them in the game. I mean that with all respect. I'm going to keep him on for sure, out of respect for him. What a sad sad story. RIP.

Do you enforce usage maximums as well? Like if a player was only in 10 MLB games, do you make sure he never gets 11?

You don't know which players may die before this season is over. What happens if 1 or more die later this season? Do you start over and remove them? Do you remove them immediately?

Of course, you can do whatever you want to do. However, when I think of using rosters from Opening Day, I don't consider making changes because of what happened after that. If somebody got a CEI two days later, I wouldn't ban him from the game. I would allow for an alternate history (which is what your league is going to be anyway).

Sorry, but he won't be a major impact on the 2009 and future seasons as we've known since early April. It sucks, but some things can't just be "from opening day" if you knew a few days later the truth. Just like even though I'm a Red Sox fan, I can't bring myself to leave Ortiz with ridiculous ratings even though I know he's not that hitter anymore (even if he manages to come back).

We discussed Adenhart during beta, and decided it was best to leave him in the set, for mainly the reasons discussed above. The set is an Opening Day set, and since Adenhart was on the Angels roster on Opening Day, he belongs according to the criteria we set.

Of course, everyone can edit the roster set to their liking. Since it's far simpler to delete/retire a player than to create him from scratch, even if the majority wanted Adenhart removed, I think it still makes sense for him to be there; those who don't want him in the set can retire him with a single mouse click.

good call and I agree. My original post was more of a question to the community on how individual people felt about it since I could see it both ways. I think the roster decision to leave him on there was the right one.

I think in the end I will leave him on. I am huge on realism, but the situation is so sad, it seems like the least I could do is allow him to live on, even if it is something as trivial as my league.
