Minor League Reports and Upgrading
I just imported my OOTP 8 league through OOTP 9 to OOTP X. I didn't sim any days or change any ratings.
OOTP 8: OOTP X: Why would these recommendations change so much just by upgrading? Is this by design? |

Things have changed a lot with pitching. That's probably what you are seeing.

It's not just pitchers. These are the changes for my AAA hitters.
Some guys, like Toni Kroos, went from -none- to overmatched, while others like Nick Wellington went from -none- to ML ready. OOTP 8: OOTP X: |

Have their ratings changed much? Or just the recomendations?

A few look like their ratings changed slightly, which is weird, because they are both from the same day. I didn't sim any days or change any ratings.

Not sure how exactly these recommendations are calculated in OOTP10 but couldn't the changes for the pitchers also influence the recommendations for the batters? What I mean is if the overall pitching level is now higher because of the new way pitchers skills are calculated wouldn't that result in batters (for whom not much has changed) possibly being overmatched when compared to the new level of pitching?
Just a wild guess. |

I can't tell you exactly why you're seeing this but I do know that Markus tweaked the AI for X specifically for it's evaluation of talent. This may be one of the results. The AI could just be "seeing" where a player belongs better.

AI evaluation could be the culprit, but I would have to ask one major question here, are you using scouts? If so that may really change things. I know that this is one of those questions like do you have the computer plug in but sometimes you have to ask them.

I think this is a good thing. Too many times I see the AI leaving a guy who plays decent defense and is a good contact hitter in AAA because of their low star rating. Of course, I'm normally able to trick online managers doing the same thing getting guys "thrown in" who can possibly win a batting title with their contact and eye ratings.

I first noticed a huge change in the minor league overview screen in OOTP 9 compared to OOTP 8. How the AI evaluates and handles minors has changes quite a bit over the last few years, so it only makes sense that the feedback you get will be different even if the ratings are basically the same. I think the AI does a much better job now compared to what it was like back in OOTP 8.

yea, this is likely all about how the AI views and evaluates minor league talent differently bt. 8 and X

How about the fact that in my league the computer seems to have the minor leagues backward. Single-A seems to be where it suggests my more polished players should go and the rookies end up in Triple-A even though everything was set up properly on the front end. Starting to regret not getting OOTP9
