Have downloaded and installed game on a personal computer in which my login is as an administrator. Adjusted shortcut to check "Run as Administrator." Started system by right-clicking and choosing "Run as administrator." System says: "User Account Control: An unidentified program wants to access your computer. Allow or Deny?" I keep choosing Allow, but nothing happens. Have tried restarting as well as shutting down and then rebooting. Same results. Any help would sure be appreciated!
(Am running OOTP9 w/o issue through Steam, system is Windows Vista). |

If you don't feel happy trying this, I'll have to look for something else to try.
Go to Control Panel and then to User Accounts In there will be an option to turn UAC on or off. Can you turn it off (you can turn it back on again afterwards), and then try and run OOTP X and see what happens. If it runs, can you turn UAC back on and then see if it runs again after that?

Thanks Tony -- turned UAC off, rebooted, and still no response when I try to run OOTPX.

Try using compatibility mode and running the game in xp service pack 2. You can find this under properties, compatibility.

Thanks Cody. Tried that too. Compatibility mode, run as administrator. Uninstalled and completely reinstalled. Still, when I start OOTPX, nothing happens...

Windows Vista Home Premium
Service Pack 1 Windows Update application says I have everything I need, however. Addendum: Had Windows Update check for updates again manually, and it came back with Service Pack 2. Will install, try again, and get back to you on how things are working. Thanks for the all the support! Last edited by AirBeagle1; 06-03-2009 at 01:19 PM. |

Exact same problem
I'm running into the exact same problem. Installing Vista SP2 currently, but I don't really know if this will be the problem. After all, it only came out last week, and presumably this has been tested with Vista SP1 a long time before that?

That's true but we have to do these errors by process of elimination. If everyone is on the newest drivers and version of the OS, it will be easier to figure out what is wrong.

To be more specific, this is the dialog that pops up when I try to start OOTPX:
"eLicense Control In order to finish intializing, this application must first be run by a user with administrator privileges. Please contract your system administrator for help. 0-3" I downloaded from the solonor mirror. Running Vista 32-bit. |

Did you run the install program as administrator?

Also can't start the game with vista
I think I installed successfully - the OOTP Baseball 10 folder is created and a shortcut appeared on my desktop, but when I double click on the exe, nothing happens, no prompts, nothing.

Have you right clicked and chosen Run as Administrator?

This is exactly what needs to be done. Right-click the actual exe file and select Run as Administrator.

I have Windows Vista as well, have the UAC turned off.. and after installing the game, I double click the icon, and nothing happens. I did the "run as administrator" still nothing happens.
Running out of ideas at this point. Nevermind... apparently you cannot have OOTP 2007/8 running at the same time in order to get OOTP X to come up.

Folks, please do us a favor, and if you're having an issue, create your own thread. When you "threadjack," we end up troubleshooting potentially separate issues in the same thread.
I'm unclear who is all set and who is still having a problem. I believe that AirBeagle1 still isn't working, but everyone else is? |

Upgraded to SP2, UAC off, installed as administrator, ran as administrator, virus checker off, still nothing happens...
Open to any other ideas -- thanks for all the help! |
