Importing individual players q
Howdy historical-ers, I have a question that I was hoping you might be able to help with.
Basically, I have (or rather am planning to have with v10) a fictional historical league, and was toying with the idea of importing one or two real players to take part, possibly the year after their real-life retirement or something. Here's the thing though - when I tried it out with my test league on v9, all their career stats were imported with them (which is fine), but their totals, season records, etc all also appeared in the league history. This is a league that hasn't started yet, so now it has records despite no games being played, ones that, due to a shorter season than the MLB, would never be broken. So what I'm asking is this - is there a way to import a player, but not have their real-life stats counted in the record book? I'm figuring the answer is no, and so if I decide to go ahead with it then I'll just have to create fictional players and edit them, but I thought I ought to double-check in case I can save myself some work. Thanks for anyone who can help. |

I suppose you could import them all in their rookie year but base their ratings on peak years. I guess then you wouldn't have any stats then. Might not work though - just a concept.

The import process will only work cleanly if the player is imported in their debut season ( depending on which db you use, this could vary ). So if your intent is, say, to add Stan Musial to any league/season subsequent to 1941 you need to use 1941 as the target source or the stats he piled up in the seasons after that will tail along with him into your universe, much like Mary's little lamb.
It's been awhile since I experimented with the reverse path, but I think that the trailing stats issue works both ways in history. And we STILL cant import directly into a draft class, nor randomly select which years to import, which irritates histofictional guys like me to no end. |

Cool, just had a go, and importing from their rookie year does what I'm after. I don't mind adjusting a few ratings (and DOB) from there to get the players to their best. Thanks all.
