Programs that are capable from running off a flash drive, I believe, need to have all the files and parameters stored locally within its own sub-directories.
The program cannot use the registry or other locations on the install computer (such as My Documents or Local Settings) because that essentially means that when you move your flash drive from the first PC to a different PC, you are not carrying those critical files and parameters with you. That said, OOTP uses the registry, especially for the eLicense information, as well as storing a great deal of its files outside of the parent directory of the executable. So in short, you may be able to install it on a flash drive, but it's only going to work on the one computer that you install it on. |

Bummer, I was hoping I could run it off the flash drive as one of my activations.

Speaking of flash drives, if you want to run the same league on more than one computer, what files would you need to copy? Can you leave out things like the news and other folders that take a lot of time to copy?

Or for that matter, duplicate your flash drive and hand out versions to all your buddies. |

If it was me I'd just zip or rar the whole .lg file. That's what I do for a backup and it has saved me on a couple of occasions. It takes my league from about 504mb down to 182mb zipped.

You can keep your league on a flash drive and move it between multiple computers.
Back before I went 100% laptop that's what I did.

for what it is worth - this is how I have solved my problem of using OOTP on multiple PC's without the hassle of moving files around/ worrying about # of licenses.
I have the game loaded on my desktop and play there most of the time. However occasionally while downstairs, outside or offsite with my laptop I want to be able to play so I use logmein to remotely control my desktop - everything is exactly the way I set it up. https://secure.logmein.com/home.asp Of course you can connect via any web connected computer (I even have run it on a linux laptop) the only issue I see is for those times you don't have web access - but even some airlines are offereing that these days - so the places you won't have access are rapidly dissapearing.

I played it off the flash drive. The game was installed on the hard drive, but the league was on the flash drive.

1) it doesn't affect performance 2) I can figure out how to get the league to default to the flash drive when it's created |

Here is another related question someone might be able to help with. I have been around a while but never post, so this is a bit of a newbie question...
I have one computer that I use for SP gaming that is not hooked up to the internet at all. I have another computer hooked up to the internet that I would also like to use OOTP on. Can I download the game and transfer to my gaming computer on a flash drive? Can I run it on both computers at once without having to purchase the game again? |

So you're saying I can play it on both computers but I will have to actually download it twice, once on each computer? That seems really strange and would a pain in the ass.

download only takes a couple of seconds, and they have to do that to prevent people from putting it on a flash drive and putting it on their friends' computers, thus scamming markus out of money

trapper I think you can download it in the zip file, save it on the flash and move it to your other computer. Install on the other computer and off site license that one. Then the computer with internet access could have the other license.
