3-2 count--must I "hit & run"?
Hello,
I just started playing the OOTP9 demo and ordered 10. Looking forward to a great time with it. After in-game managing a few games in the demo, I can't tell if my runners will be "on the move" with a 3-2 count (especially with 2 outs). Do I have to press "hit and run" for them to move realistically, or can I just swing away? Will using "hit and run" in this situation cause the batter to swing too often? Would "run and hit" be better? This came up in a game where I was managing the Mets, Carlos Delgado up, 1st and 2nd, 2 outs, 3-2 count. Normally one would not "hit & run" with Delgado but I can't tell if using "hit and run" is the normal/required thing to do in the game to get the runners in motion. Thanks in advance. |

I don't have scientific proof, but more often than not (I don't know if it is always) runners do run on 3-2 with two outs without being told to do so.

I'm 99% sure the runners will go on their own 3-2 with 2 outs. I use run and hit with less than 2 outs. That's my interpretation on why it is there, but that is more my opinion than fact.

Also, just to let you know, Markus once said that the baserunner at 1B is automatically being held, The "hold" option for pitchers just makes them concentrate more on the runner and therefore they lose a bit against the batter. He said he never uses the hold option.
