Play or Simulate Games

With OOTP10 just around the corner, I was wondering how many people actually play out their games, either real, historical or fictional?

As being the general manager you make the trades but let the manager/computer play the games. I personally prefer to manage as well, as I like to play every game of the 162 major league games, as I like to be involved in changing the pitchers, using pinch hitters and so-on, as I find the AI makes some decisions I wouldn't which can cost me a game.

Would be interesting to see the difference in how people actually play the game.

I only play fictional, and I manage all of my games. I let the AI be my GM.

I sim the first 4 innings of my teams games and play out the rest. That being said, I have a bad case of sim envy. Want to, just can't get into it.

I always play them out. When the option of pitch by pitch came out I was excited about it, but have since returned to the one pitch method.

I either play in commish mode or I am the GM. I never manage as I like my seasons to progress at a quick pace. I am more interested in watching careers and/or a great dynasty. I imagine managing every game would be very fun, but a bit time consuming for my tastes...

I used to play the first game of every series and sim the last two or three. Now I've started a league where I sim them all and a short season league (46 games) where I play them all.

Both

I play out the 1st 3 innings of the game and then sim till the 8th,finish playing it out.I do this one game a week.
Reason: I feel I can keep "on top" of things by playing one game a week, making adjustments quickly during the season.
No fictional.

Interesting. You let the AI trade?

I'm so much of a control freak that I couldn't do that. That's what makes this game awesome is the choices we have.

I sim the regular season and play out the playoff games. I occasionally play a big series mid season or if the pennant is on the line at the end. It's kinda like Steinbrenner + mode.

If I never had to work I would play out all my games but since time is a issue I sim em all. And I play fictional.

Mine is a fictional league (Granite City Krazy Kats, Hoboken Haymakers, etc.) with real players.

I play each game out and am hoping for an "undo" button for substitutions AND the option to hold/send runners yourself in game.

In my historical league - which is now in 1910 - I sim games except sometimes, if a pennant race is close, I'll manage games "at a distance." That is, I'll sim the first few innings, then keep an eye on things, jump in if I feel one team or the other should pinch-hit for the pitcher but AI doesn't do it, etc. Same thing for the playoffs...

I also choose the starting pitchers in the last few games for teams that have clinched so their top starters are available & not unnecesarilly fatigued when the playoffs start.

Once I eventually get to the 50's or 60's, I'll probably manage a little more frequently and definitely manage in the playoffs.

Yep. The only thing I do is choose my lineups, rotation, substitutions, etc.

Crap!!!! I was going to use that as my signature. You beat me to the punch.

Anyways...I look forward to playing out every game of my historical leagues.

I have a fictional league that I have been playing since v2006. I play out every game of my team's 162 game season. I'm in my fifth season.

Sim the first month, see how my organization is doing, sim the next month then draft. Sim one game at a time for the rest of the season. Play out all playoff games.

I sim series by series, look the other team over, set my lineups, see how my minors are doing. I sim the series then adjust for the next series after that. I play out major games, deciding playoff games or important division matches or games with playoff implications.
