Using rosters with 2008 Stats

I may be off base here (pardon the pun) but shouldn't I be able to set up a custom game with 2008 stats. I plan to have a draft with control of every team and restock all the major league teams with 2009 rosters.

When I strated the custom game option it restricted me to 2007. Do I need to something to update the database to include 2008?

Thanks for any help.

Since the game was released before 2008 stats had been accumulated, they are not included in the DB that comes with the game. Same will apply with OOTP 10, since the 2009 season hasn't been played yet, you will only get stats up to 2008.

I have created a historical league using the new Lahman DB for the year 2008. I ran into no 2007 restriction.

Updating DB to 2008

IrishRay, I thought it was strange that you would not be able to update the Lahman DB that OOTP uses for 2008. Did you just download the 2008 lahman DB? What folder should it be in?
BTW I assume we download the csv version and not ACcess version?

Thanks.

Use the csv version. I created a new directory in the data directory. When creating the league, I pointed the gane to the newly created directory containing the new lahman db.
