Playing time question

Hey guys, fairly new player here and I just think this game is incredible.

I am wondering if anyone can answer this for me. When you bring up a talented prospect to your major league roster, but don't give him a lot of playing time, does it slow his progression?

It's been said by some authoritative figures that a prospect in the majors will develop normally, even if he has limited playing time. This is different than in the minors, where riding the bench will keep a player from developing as quickly as he otherwise could.
