March Madness

Number 1's the 4 best teams with 3 or less loss.
Expand it to like 70 teams.
Have some Games on ESPN because like Jay Blis,Bill R.,Len Elmore help out at CBS at that time.
Clark Kellog is okay to work with Nantz but Vitale would be better.

Why are there no P.Rico teams in March Madness?

Call me crazy for making a serious post in this thread, but...

Is it just me or is the tournament starting a bit later than usual?

They might as well invite all Dividion 1 teams to the tourney. It would only add a week to the tourney and they could make it up bt eliminating the superfluous conference tournaments.

I've got a bit of a dilemma. The Big Sky champion, Portland State University, is the only Oregon team in the tournament. Oregon State is rebuilding and Oregon had a dismal year that nobody expected. So the home crowd has noone to root for but the Vikings.

The problem is that the Big Sky really stretches the definition of mid-major. They play in Division I-AA in football. Last year PSU got a #16 seed in the big dance and were blown out. I don't expect a much better position this year. Thus they're a sure bet to be gone in the first round. Is it a good thing that they made the tournament?

I don't agree with expanding the tournament, by the way. I believe it should take some degree of effort and success to find oneself in the tournament, and that four weeks, as opposed to three, is too long.

I enjoyed the conference tournaments when I lived in the States.

I've always been a bigger college hoops fan than NBA, but coming back to the States for the first time in years for some reason I have reversed my opinion. I have to think it's the 1-year rule for draft eligibility. I liked the NCAA much more when disinterested prospects could go straight to the pros and the kids in the NCAA actually needed a couple seasons to prove they were pro worthy. I really can't stand the idea that all the good players are one and done. Either let them go straight to the pros like before to let the teams build some continuity with they players they do recruit or go to a college baseball model where you can go pro out of HS or if you go to college you make at least a 3-year commitment. At least in the NBA you can reasonably expect your best players to be there the next season. In college I can't keep track of anyone becuase all the good ones leave.

I don't bother with NCAA hoops any more. The best players turn over every year or two and the 30 games in the regular season don't even matter in the end. What kind of a messed up system is that?

Do the regular season games count in ANY playoff system? No, as long as you win enough to make it to the postseason.

There's a big difference in the value of regular season games across different sports and leagues depending on what portion of teams make the playoffs.

Exactly, that is why the BCS is a superior system.

Speaking of conference tournaments, in the Big East arch-rivals Pitt and West Virginia seem to be giving each other all they can handle.

The Big East tournament is weird. every team in the conference (and there are sixteen of them) gets in. The higher your finish, the longer the bye before you have to play. So far today, the higher seeded teams have won two of the four games scheduled for today. UConn doesn't play until later tonight, though.

This is the first time I've seen that statement without a smiley. Do you actually mean it?
