Online Play

I haven't played OOTP since version 6. However, I've been considering the jump to OOTP after playing FM with a group for about a year or so. All of us are considering the transition, but have a few questions. When connecting to a host, is it like FM or do we have to submit our team management files (line-ups, rotation, etc) to the host to sim? Has this part of the game changed at all? Any feedback regarding this subject would be appreciated. Thank you.

Richie Renard: 'Cause you give yourself up for the team?
Gil Renard: And it doesn't even count against your average. That's why baseball's better than life - it's fair.

You can export your league file after you've made all of your changes directly inside the game. Its one click (EXPORT LEAGUE FILES).

Its also just as easy to import a new league file after the commish has run a new sim. Just one click (CHECK FOR UPDATED LEAGUE FILE).

Very very simple.

When connecting to the host, do we still the results as they happen? If he hits the sim button, do we see an updated scoreboard as well?

EDIT: Is it realtime? I guess that's what I'm asking . . .

Well I'm not 100% sure about OOTP 10, as of course it isn't out yet, but on OOTP 8 & 9, it was not real time. You had to wait for him to run the sim first and upload the new league file then once that is done, you can import it in.

Oh, damn. I doubt it will be then. Thank you for a quick response by the way.

Okay. Leads me to another question. Will the host receive it automatically after I export or do I have to zip it (or not) and send it through e-mail or instant message program (whatever, you get the point)?

Like the question above, does he have to receive items through e-mail or is it all done through game? Thank you in advance.

You don't have to zip up and email anything. The commish receives the files automatically. The same when you receive a new league file, just click the button and you automatically download the new updated league file to work from.

It handles online files extremely well nowadays. All the hard work is done for you. It's the best in the business of text sims.
