Super Bowl 43

Buried in all the hype and general BS there is actually a football game to be played. Im picking Pittsburgh to win 38-17.

And, if you get Fox Soccer Channel, an excellent soccer match in the morning (7:30 PST 10:30 EST) Chelsea v Liverpool.

Its shaping up to be a great day for drinking, over-eating and watching some great sport.

Meh it's an excuse to finish up chili after the Montreal-Boston game in the afternoon.

Ha. Wow. Would you believe that I was actually planning to cook chili to eat during the Habs pre-SB game?

You, sir, are a credit to your species.

Pittsburgh should win easily. 34-10 is my best uneducated guess...

I have not watched for the past two years but for some reason this year I kind of want too.
Too bad it will not be played until about 12 AM

When is kick off? ~6:30 PM EST?

I really don't see how Pittsburgh can score 38 points, unless Warner turns the ball over 4 times.

Kurt Warner has been the Superbowl MVP, and is 8-2 in the playoffs lifetime.

The Steelers haven't played a Hall of Fame QB in the playoffs.

The blitz of the Steelers, against the document expertise of Warner AGAINST the blitz.

If you give me 21 points, I will bet you as much money as you want.

Oh as for the game itself.

I say 16-10 Steelers in what will probably be a pretty boring game

I'm picking the Steelers 27-24. Looking forward to the matchup of strategies.

I'm rooting for the Cardinals. They've never won squat in their history.

Years ago before they ever won any Super Bowls I rooted for the Steelers and the 49ers for the same reason.

If the Bears or the Chargers (my favorite old AFL club) aren't in it I'll root against teams I detest first (Cowboys, Packers, Vikings, Giants)

If this isn't possible I'll root for the team with the fewest historical accomplishments out of sympathy for long suffering fans

If it's a low scoring game (i.e. both teams score less than 20 points), then Pittsburgh wins. If it's a high scoring game, Arizona wins.

Cardinals 14, Steelers 9

However, my squares are:

Cards 8 Pitts 4
Cards 2 Pitts 3

So that is what I am hoping for. Lousy numbers, but who knows what can happen. $125 for 1st and 3rd quarter, $250 for halftime and $500 for end of game.

Though I'd like to believe otherwise, I think the Steelers will win convincingly.

I think Chelsea will win that one and near enough end Liverpool's title chances. If Man U win this season they would tie Liverpool's record 18 league championship wins...

Chelsea has been pretty awful against the other big 4 this season and Livahpewwwl have been pretty awful since Rafa went off on SAF. Ill go with a 1-1 draw.
