I started following boxing in the 70's when my dad was a huge boxing fan. Since those day's I've always had a soft spot for the bantamweights of those days, especially Carlos Zarate. That Zarate-Zamora fight is one I've probably replayed 50 times using Title Fight then Title Bout. Great stuff.

Great clips of Hearn's...... He was one of the true greats....and one of the greats as well when it came to the stare downs and intimidation by such.........and he sure as hell did intimidate prior to a fight...... Very few fighers accomplish that......

I've never had a favorite fighter. I've always enjoyed watching George Foreman, though. Both careers. I even enjoy watching him in the game - bouncing opponents off the canvas .

Sugar Boy Nando is my all-time favorite. To me he is a boxing Everyman. His career spanned 4 decades, he made it into the lower part of the Ring's top 10 a few times, and was middleweight champion of Aruba

Among guys I've seen fight I'll go with Joey Giardello for the same reasons.
A consumate pro for years and years.

Another favorite of mine is Elmer Ray. I view him as the Hal Newhouser of heavyweight fighters. A much under-rated and forgotten name.

Among old timers I'll go with Stanley Ketchell

Who could ever forget the tension and anticipation going into the Hagler fight.

I remember the first time they were supposed to fight. I was 13 and at my Moms house. I had no idea that the fight had been cancelled. Flipped on HBO and it was a WHO concert. I might have cried.

That would have been interesting as that was more in the Motor City Cobra days. I think his chin takes more heat than is deserved. Even in the game. He certainly didn't have a chin of concrete. But his heart made up for a lot of it.

Other than Barkley. It took a lot of shots to get him down.

Tommy Burns, Sam Langford, Jimmy McLarnin, Lou Broulliard, Jack Renault, Larry Gains, Earl Walls, George Chuvalo, Clyde Grey, Lennox Lewis. Did I miss someone? Probably.

One guy who was a huge disappointment to me was Nova Scotia's Kirk Johnson. He had the physical tools to be something, but his head was messed up by family and business problems.

Rocky Marciano and Joe Frazier because of the heart they showed during there careers, both men pressured there opponents relentlessly and never seemed to tire.

That really is a tough question...lol

Marciano - for his heart
Foreman - for showing you're never too old
Hagler - determination personified
Hearns - pure excitement
Leonard - The sweet one was sooooo entertaining
Arguello - just a class act

Many many more than this, but here's the tip of the proverbial iceberg...lol

As a Hearns and Hagler fan you're required to hate Leonard. Sorry, it's a MANLAW.
