Problem starting and loading games
Version: 9.2.2, PC
After running a virus scan with AVG, all games stopped loading. The startup screen works and I can try to load games or start new games. After it finishes processing all of the relevant information, it crashes. It is reproducible and happens when I try to load or start any game. I checked to see if lcmmfu.cpl is still in the Windows directory and it is. It is not in the Virus Vault either. I also removed CPL files from the resident scanner. Thank you! |

Was this the first time that you had run an AVG virus scan? Did it make any changes while you were saving your game?
So starting a new major league game or fictional one or historical one will crash your computer? Which operating system are you using, how much RAM do you have, and what is your processor speed and video card model? |

Starting any game will crash the game, not my computer. Trying to load any game will crash the game as well. I am using Windows XP Pro, SP3 with 2 gigs of RAM. My processor is an Intel Duo CPU with each processor running at 2.50 GHz. The video card is a Nvidia GeForce 8700M GT. |

Have you tried disabling AVG and running OOTP? Admittedly, I have been running the latest version of AVG with OOTP and haven't had trouble, but it's worth a shot.

Have you tried defragmenting your hard drive or checking your hard drive for errors?
I'm not sure why else the game would have worked for a time, then stopped. You could also wait until the new patch is released (hopefully very shortly) to see if that helps anything. |

I had already defragged a few days ago and there were no errors on the hard drive.

Make sure that you're up to date with your Windows files and your grahpic card driver.
Try running OOTP with facegen disabled. Try closing every other program running on your computer that isn't necessary to keep Windows going. |
