Question Adding cities to the game

There's a "force reimport" of basically every other database, but not the cities database.

I want to be able to save what I've done so far in every other way, but add new cities I've added to cities.txt. There must be some way to do that?

Thanks for any response....

Cities.txt and nations.txt get imported once, at game creation, to form world.dat which is the source from that point on for locations used in the game. Subsequent changes to those text files will not be reflected in the game, AFAIK.

No workaround, though, like creating a new league and reimporting everything from the csv or something?

Well, I've heard that there's a theoretical workaround, but I haven't tried it myself so I don't know if it works. Here's the idea:

You've got a league and want to add cities to it that you've already added to cities.txt. Create a new league identical to the one you've got, but do it with the updated cities.txt and nations.txt. After that league is created, copy and paste the world.dat into the folder of your other league. Obviously, you should back up your old world.dat file before you do this and it's probably not a bad idea to back up the entire league folder. Also, it may be that if you rearrange the order of the cities.txt file, that your players and teams will no longer link to the cities they once did. Again, I'm not sure if that's true or not, but if you append the new ones to the end and don't remove anything from the old one, you're more likely to be ok.

Since many many names in the cities.txt are not spelled the same as in Lahmanns DB lots of unknown birthtowns are created.

Many times it can be simple
Yeóryios the ó making the problem
sometimes it´s as simple as
Almoloya del Río both the del could be spelled with capital D in Lahmanns and of course the í

These things sucks since you can´t find all until it´s too late.

So if it was only missing cities then it would be better, but the spelling and use of letters that are different a method of reload this file must be found IMHO that secures the idea of having birthcities.
