OOTP 9.2 repeatable crash after starting 2008 MLB game
I'm using Windows Vista, and OOTP 9.2. 2 GB of RAM, Intel E6750 2.66 GHz processor.
I've started 4 separate games using the "New 2008 Major League Game" in the main menu, and I've had the same issue every time. I start employed as a manager for the Rockies, although I've tested another team (Arizona) and I get the same crash. After the program loads the databases and the home screen appears, pressing either the "edit pitching staff" or "edit lineup" buttons causes the program to crash and I receive a message from Windows saying that "OOTP Baseball 9 has stopped working". If I save the game at the home screen and then cause the crash, I'm able to reload the game but the crash will still occur when pressing either of these buttons. This has never occurred to me with any previous version of OOTP (7 through 9.16). |

Markus has said that there are some problems with 9.2 and that a new patch 9.2.1 should be ready by Tuesday. I'd hold off till then as this could be one of the new bugs that came in.

Just to follow up with this, I installed 9.2.2 over 9.2, began another MLB 2008 game, and the program crashed again when I tried to select the "edit pitching staff" or "edit lineup" buttons.
The good news is that after doing a complete uninstall and a fresh install of 9.2.2, the problem disappeared. I'm mentioning this in case other bugs will be taken care of by a fresh installation. |
