Mistake?

In the current season I'm simming ... I made it the world championship... The team I am playing had an inferior regular season record then I did, and their semi final series took longer then my team's did, yet the first game of the World Series was played at their park...

Isn't this a mistake in home field advantage?

Not necessarily. MLB alternates the World Series amongst the leagues. This year the AL team had the advantage, next year will be the NLs turn again, regardless of the records.

Don't worry, in my opinion, thats kind of a dumb rule. Why wouldn't you give it to the team with the best record. You could say that they don't play the same schedules, but I still think that would be a better method to decided home field advantage.

Or they should give it to the league that wins the All-Star game.

Good idea, but what happens when the All-Star Game ends in a tie? LOL. Homerun Derby between the two teams for homefield advantage would be awesome, but that'll never happen. Alternating between leagues is still better than the coin flips they do to determine homefield in case teams tie for the wildcard.

With good reason!

HRs are nice, but they're not the be-all and end-all of baseball. Far from it. But in this case, if you have a team (like San Francisco this year) get the wild card, get to the World Series, have a lesser record than their opponent (Anaheim), but be able to throw up one of the best power hitters in the game (Bonds), they're almost assured the home-field advantage, despite satisfying no real condition besides "We have one player that can hit more home runs than one of your players."

Yes, I know Bonds can hit more home runs than pretty much every Angel, but the statement in quotes is meant to be general, not specific.
