I love my new league

after creating about a dozen leagues, I finally made one I am addicted to. First, my laptop is a bit on the older side so I had to make a league that it could handle with ease. (1.8meg cpu speed, 1 gig of Ram, 60 meg HD) I wanted multiple leagues throughout the world, specifically the US, Japan, Mexico, and a couple other Latin American teams. BUT I wanted them to all play each other in the playoffs.

So I created an American League of 4 divisions with 5 teams in each division. The top 20 US cities in terms of population got teams and were arranged in the AL East, Central, South, and West. This makes up what would be the typical "American League". The top two in the division make the post season and they are matched up in the first round against the team their divisional rival. For this reason, the schedule is pretty heavy against the division with only a 3 game home and away (6 total) against the other teams in the league.

Then the NL is the World League. There there's a Japanese division consisiting of 10 teams. There's a 6 team Mexican league, a four team Dominican league and a 4 team Cuban league. The top Four Japanese teams make the playoffs as well as the division leaders from the three Latin American leagues plus one wild card. The Japanese teams are seeded against each other and the latin american teams plus the wild card are seeded against each other. The Japanese teams ONLY play Japanese teams while the Latin American teams are divisional heavy but do match up against each of the other latin american teams for either a 4 game home or away series. In all 30 seasons, the Wild Card has went to a Latin American team so it is exactly as I intended.

So there's 100% chance an american team will be in the World Series. A 50% chance it will be a Japanese team, and a 25% chance it will be a Latin American team (with that divided by the three coutries).

Each league has its own college feeder league. The US has a 40 team feeder league. Japan has a 18 team. Mexico has a 8 team, and Cuba and the Dominican Republic each has a 4 team feeder league. This has resulted in the US team winning 18 of 30 of the WS titles, Japan winning 8 of 30 of the titles, and Mexico winning 3, and Cuba 1. No dominican team has won. However, divisions have been represented in the Series (Dominican teams have combined for four appearances but lost to the US all four times).

Additionally, once the cities are set for the league based on population, I adjusted all of the market sizes based on this population. For the 44 teams, I ranked them all then gave them a market size from 1 to 20 trying to mimic a standard bell curve as best as I could with the limited size of the file.

it has turned out VERY well, almost exactly as I was hoping. Now I play in the AL and try to bring my team to the title. I consider a "world series" appearance as an "American League" title and celebrate the league winner as if they were the MLB winner and the final "World Series" as though its an exhibition. I find myself more and more involved in this league as I've taken over a team and now I'm finally hooked on a league. its about time.

Your league is similar to the NABL (North American Baseball League) league that has me hooked. The league has 3 divisions with 6 teams each. the Northern division consists of Canadian teams. The Central division has 6 US teams and the Southern division has 3 mexican teams, 1 cuban tean, 1 Puerto Rican team and a team from the Dominican Republic.

I use the wild card that gives me a 2 round playoff system.
