Standings question?
So I'm looking at the standings report, and there's one column where I can't figure out what it is: "Pyt. Rec"
I don't see an explanation for this abbreviation in the manual. Is this supposed to be last season's record (weird because this is the first season for my league)? Is it supposed to be what the team's record should be based on talent? Or something else obvious I'm missing? Just curious. ![]() BJ |

It refers to the Pythagorean Record, an indication of what the club's won-loss record should be based on the number of runs scored versus the number of runs allowed. It's a stat originally created by Bill James.
Here's how it's calculated on the Baseball-Reference web site. Last edited by Le Grande Orange; 09-03-2008 at 03:18 AM. |

Thanks! That actually makes sense. I can add that to my list of stats I'd never heard of before I played this game, which doesn't surprise me considering I don't come from a Rotisserie (sp.?) background (newspaper box scores and standings are about it for me). VORP was another one that confused me, but I was easily able to find out about that one with a Google search.
Thanks again for clearing this one up for me, Le Grande Orange! ![]() |
