Minor League contract extensions?
This is not necessarily a bug, just more of a question of why this is in the game...
The game has Minor League Free Agency and also has Minor League contract extensions. It seems a bit contradictory to have both in the game. Minor League FA is obviously created so that players who are logjammed behind other players in an organization can seek out other opportunites around the league. Putting in minor league contract extensions seems to completely go against the whole purpose for having Minor League FA in the game. Not to mention, it is completely unrealistic. No player who had aspirations of making it to the big leagues, would resign to a minor league contract with an organization that does not even think enough of the player to add them to the 40 man roster. At least not before testing the FA waters to see what other opportunities are out there. |

Players with realistic chances at a major league play won't sign minor league contract extensions at all. In fact, players with unrealistic changes at reaching the majors won't sign them either.
I guess that it just works better procedurally to allow for minor league contract extensions ahead of time than to try to handle all of the additional discussions in the off-season. |

Ok fair enough...I suppose there are many more pressing issues anyways. Was just curious. Thanks for the response.
