BZ 69: Removing player from 40 man roster with no consequence
I've noticed a loophole that will allow you to remove players from your 40 man roster without any consequence.
You just take a guy from your 40 man roster, waive and designate them for assignment, assign the player back to the roster they were originally on and remove them from waivers. Why is this a problem? Well you can add players to your 40 man roster to avoid the Rule V draft at the end of each year, then once the Rule V draft is over, just take them right back off. It clears up plenty of space on the 40 man roster and none of your minor league players ever run out of options since they are not accumulating time on the 40 man roster.(Though obviously with the Minor League options Loophole in the game, the running out of options thing doesn't have quite the same effect). How can it be fixed? Well the major issue is the retractable waivers in OOTP. OOTP either needs to differentiate between the different waivers(I.E. outright waivers, trade waivers and so on) or OOTP needs to just make all waivers irrevocable. 99% of waivers done in OOTP are of the Outright variety, which should be irrevocable anyways. |

The good news is that you are 100% correct in everything that you say. The bad news is that Markus hasn't figured out a way to fix this. It was BZ 69, for reference. I'll reopen it just in case something new might occur to him.

This has been marked as something to be addressed at a later time.
