Game pauses for a long time after world series..

I'm running OOTP 9.1.6 on windows.

Everything speeds along for the regular season but after the world series the game freezes for 10 or 15 minutes. Then it completes whatever it's doing and continues the game. I only have 16 teams in the league with no minor leagues.

What's it doing and can I speed it up?
