Runtime Error

I am using patch 9.1.6 on an XP OS.

Hello, I have put about 20 seasons on the books in my ML universe. Up until about four or five seasons ago everything was fine. Then all of a sudden I have been hit with these Runtime Errors at least once a year. Anywhere from the end of the season until the start of the new year is when they normally occur. As you can image, this is a royal pain in the behind when it occurs during the signing of players to new contracts and such.

It has occured while Auto-Playing into the future, during the trade screen, during saving, looking at player profiles, etc....the problem is all over the map.

It didn't bother me at first, but with me being so far into the game...getting the game to load back up takes 5 minutes if not more to do so(2G of RAM doesn't seem to go as far as it used to).

Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks ahead of time for your response(s).

It sounds as if your league files are simply getting larger and outpacing the ability of your computer to run the game. Here are some tips to help make things run a bit more smoothly:

Is there anything else that we can help you with?

Thank you Nutlaw for your response. Those tips did help with performance.

I do have a question about one of those though.

You may want to turn the minor league details down to Low.

From the manual it states:

Note: You should use Low stats detail only if there is some specific need to do so. Using low detail can cause some areas of the game to behave differently. For example, news articles will not show correct statistics.

The news article thing is no big deal, but what are some other examples? Are they mostly cosmetic? The "behave differently" part made me hesitant about making a change there.

One last question. I deleted everything in that message folder(boy does that fill up)...I was just wondering if it was safe to delete the files in the Replays folder or the News folder. Like news/html/boxscores and so on. If so, which folders are safe to delete from within?

Again thanks ahead of time for your help/response.

Changing the settings to Low won't mess up your game in any way. There will just be fewer numbers from which the game can draw for things like news stories. If you'd rather keep it at Normal, I doubt that it would make a huge difference.

I would only delete the replays and the news/html/boxscores and news/html/game logs folder contents.
