Can you unretire players?

Ive just taken stock of my "Play every game" dynasty where Im in my 4th season. Its taken quite a time to get here and Im nearly divorced, however I was perusing the career leaderboards and I noticed that the career leader of the batting average is a guy of 25 who retired after one season. He made 502 PA and is a full .15 above the second person who has played nearly 4 seasons. I have a horrible feeling that this one season average is never going to drop down the leaderboard which is going to make it a little sour, as the true batting average career leader is always going to be second. If I recall the one season wonder was 3.674 or something like that.

The thing is, why did he retire?, I appreciate he became a free agent, but surely I can overide it and eithe delete him or reinstate him?

What gives?

Further to this, I keep checking milestone watch and there are a few batters reaching milestones now, but there are no pitchers up yet. Now the K category says within 200K, what is the entry point as the leader has 948K and I would have thought that it would kick in at 1000K, anyone know?

Yes, you can unretire a player. Right click on his name, and select the option to unretire.
